A wonderful experience at Domain Holset

The eight of us had a very nice afternoon at Domein Holset. We started with an interesting tour of the vineyard, where we were given an enthusiastic and clear explanation about the vineyard and the making of the bubbles.
Then we enjoyed a delicious tasting of the bubbles, combined with tasty snacks. Everything tasted so good that we drank an extra bottle of cozy outside on the terrace. Lovely enjoying the view.
A beautiful location, delicious bubbles and a super cozy experience. Definitely recommended for a pleasant afternoon with friends or family!

Not recommended: disappointing, no air conditioning, good wines.

Booked a room for 1 night for last weekend weeks ago through Booking. The site clearly states that they do not have air conditioning. Via Booking we could no longer cancel for free last week, so we contacted the hotel directly one day before arrival. It would be 40 degrees the day of arrival, then a hotel room without air conditioning is not an option (at least not for us). However, they indicated that they use those Dyson coolers, but they move air instead of cooling. So we called them the day before to ask if we could cancel/rebook/refund small items. Weird story we got back over the phone, that hotel Booking has to pay the full amount so everything had to be arranged with Booking. They didn't give at home either, of course. On the day of arrival had a tasting together with my partner. Then bought over €300 worth of wines, we were asked if we wanted to check in. So we indicated that we had booked another hotel with air conditioning in Valkenburg. Then the hostess Meta became very unkind, because we were downstairs a cooler room and she had to cancel all kinds of customers this morning who had the room (s) with sloping roof. It became a nasty conversation, not customer friendly at all. Tip to the location: had told us on the phone the day before that we would get the cool room + first called us before canceling your other customers, because we really wanted to cancel ourselves fine if we did not get all the costs back in full). We took our loss of €220 (price via Booking) and slept great in another hotel with air conditioning! No more sparkling wine estate Holset for us and we do not recommend it to anyone. The wines are really good, but the location (view over the vineyards is much more limited than at eg Apostelhoeve). And also little else to do nearby. So we were happy with our choice to sleep in Valkenburg after the tasting instead of in the boutique hotel without air conditioning.

The reception and location/room are top notch. Staff very friendly and lovely wine tasting.

A nice location. The stay received as a gift. From Vaals easy to drive to. You will miss the entrance if you are not paying attention, as it is meant at the back with a parking space for guests. That parking lot and the path to the hotel is unpaved, so mud feet on the car upholstery and also the trip with a roller case is not convenient. But maybe I should have walked around it better. Strange that next to the main entrance is a parking lot and there were also cars in the yard. From staff? The welcome was very friendly, and the room is luxurious with a superb bed. You rarely see them that well. A closet and very good plumbing, walk-in shower and two sinks. No TV in the room but there is a nice spacious common living room with TV and kitchenette. Coffee and tea are free and there is a stocked fridge. You sit quietly in the middle of hilly territory. Great sleep, and breakfast adequate. Sandwiches, toppings and eggs and more. Fresh juices, coffee and tea at will. Also recommended is the wine tasting. The wines can match quality with champagnes (and I have really studied for it), but Dutch labor and the sustainable approach are labor intensive and cost money. You will of course see that in the bottle price. The Novo extra brut was really great. The lady who supervised the wine tasting has a lot of knowledge and explains the process of making sparkling wines to perfection. Not a single mistake made.

Recommended!!! Top tour. Beautiful tasting

What a place! Nice winery. Informative and enthusiastic tour. And tasted delicious bubbles.
If you manage to get one table on the edge of the terrace, you never want to leave. What a view!

Not worth repeating

Small rooms for the money you have to pay, little ventilation.
After 17 hours you can't eat or drink anything.
We are used to a lot of wines but these are not to drink.

Very good location
