Fine room in a special building

Friendly welcome and helpful staff. Nice hotel in a special building. Good breakfast. Close to the center. Tip: take a city walk, Hoorn is really worth it.
Price / quality more than okay.

Disastrous

What a disaster. Terrible management. Nothing extra possible. Rigid policy. Room not cleaned!!! Especially stay away from here!!!

Not suitable for people seeking peace, but fantastically located.

I had a single room, small but fine. Clean and tidy, and very comfortable. Only no window could open, only a ventilation grille. It was extremely hot. Also very noisy from people walking right past the window, single glass. I checked with the reception if they might have a fan. The boy was helpful and friendly, but he had no fan. A mobile air conditioner, but then a hose had to go outside and that can't be done if the window can't be opened. There was another room available, upstairs, on the quiet side, where the window could open, so I moved for €10 a night. Mobile air conditioning made a lot of noise but I turned it off when I wanted to go to sleep. Unfortunately, I then heard the thump from one of the cinema halls in the building. The bass was really shaking all the way to my room. I was done and booked another hotel for the following two nights. Apparently no one has ever heard the thumping from the cinema before, they had not had any complaints about this.
If you are an easy sleeper, can stand the heat and noise well, then this is a fine, neat, hotel with a fantastic location.

Misleading publicity

The idea of sleeping in a former prison cell was very appealing. However, the room was very hot during the day because there was no ventilation. In my reservation, breakfast was included in the price of the room (I have proof of this), but when I arrived, I was told that breakfast was no longer offered and that I would have to pay €18.50 for it each morning (for 5 days) .
Their confirmation was misleading. I have filed official complaints with the consumer protection authority, the Dutch Advertising Code Committee, and the city of Hoorn.

A definitely No Return

The novelty of staying in a former prison soon wore off when we had no hot water for 2 days, to get the reception to fix the problem was a mission,took them 2 days to fix the fault,I had the deluxe room so I had space my partner had the normal room no space at all to hang clothes, rooms extremely hot no air circulation no windows only in the bathroom which is limited,I would hate to be there summer,very noisy from the cinema and restaurant from above, only positive is the area but otherwise never coming back stay away please....
