A comfortable, rustic inn with friendly hosts.

Found the hotel on line when we needed a place overnight on a drive from Eastern Europe to London. Drove through a few really lovely Netherlands villages to get to Meerlo.
We didn’t have a reservation, and reception was closed when we got there. The host came to the front door to greet us, and checked us in. His English is excellent. The building is a former stable, which has been converted to a comfortable hotel. There are rooms for families and for groups of friends to share. We were given two rooms for multiple people, but charged only for two single rooms.
A communal room on the ground floor is where a breakfast is served if you opt for it, or you can have free coffee or tea there, or on the patio. The breakfast looked very hearty, and the guests eating seemed to really enjoy it.
The night we came in, we decided to have dinner at the restaurant across the street. It was quite good, and decently priced. The place only takes cash, so be prepared to go to an ATM if you’re not stocked with euros.
Really enjoyed our stay here. The hosts were really friendly and helpful; the accommodations comfortable; and the village landscape is charming.

The price is not justified.

The location of the hotel is good. We had a room on the top floor. The stairs were so steep that you could barely get up. We had a dog with us that could not manage the steps itself either up or down. The furnishings were very dated. The rooms were clean. The bathroom was in the hallway. We were lucky that the other room was not occupied so that we had it for our sole use. Overall, a poor price-performance ratio.

Friendly, clean and very comfortable

I needed a place to stay nearby to where I was visiting for one night and found this lovely hotel. Run by a very friendly couple who did everything to make me feel welcome and at home. If I am to be anywhere in that region again (as there is much to do and see) I will certainly stay there again!

Upon arrival the door to the reception was closed and you had to use the intercom. Person opening the door and doing the check-in seemed preoccupied and it appeared as it was a nuisance to check me in.
The room is well...let's say basic, small, dark and definitely not a nice place to sit and relax in. The small bathroom ( toilet, wash basin and shower ) was good as was the wifi.
Then the noise...... with thin walls and two young children staying in the room next or at least close to me it was not very quiet.
For 70 euros breakfast is not included. For an extra 13 euros you can get breakfast but in the morning, looking at what was there, It was in my opinion not worth the 13 euros.
On checking out the reception again was not manned so I just left the key next to the coffee machine ( as I was told I could ) in the community room.
In the community room there are coffee/ tea making facilities. This is free.
For the price I paid I was expecting a bit more and with saying that I mean I would have liked a more quiet place.
The town is nothing much. Although the surrounding area is beautiful for walks and cycling trips. The best part of being in Meerlo was the local bakery.
I am sorry to say but this is a hotel I cannot recommend.

Basic hotel en prima optie voor wandelaars Pieterpad

Na 37km wandelen vanuit Gennep, werd ik vriendelijk welkom geheten in het hotel. De deur klemt een beetje, maar het is schoon en de douche was warm. Er tegenover ligt een bruin café met 50 bieren en lekker eten. Aangezien ik enige gast was had ik de gezamelijke ruimte voor me alleen en kon ik de finale van 'Wie is de Mol' kijken. Kortom een prima optie, wel wat prijzig, voor een vermoeide wandelaar van het Pieterpad.
