Ootmarsum, a historic gem and the hotel, van der Maas, worth a booking.

What a friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast, good dinner and wines, especially compared to the price!
There was 1 short minus as far as the room was concerned, but that was quickly and properly repaired the next day.
The hotel is easily accessible, despite being situated in the middle of Ootmarsum.
All in all we had a nice stay and Ootmarsum is definitely worth a visit!

Simple but excellent hotel in an excellent location

Clean and tidy hotel in an excellent location in the beautiful center of Ootmarsum.
Room simple but neat and clean.
Staff very friendly.
We had to get used to the idea that the menu is the same for everyone and is served at the same time, but it turned out to work well in practice.
Don't expect a 5 star menu, but the quality was fine.
All in all an excellent price/quality ratio.

Terrible bathroom room 4

The hotel is nicely located, friendly welcome. The room is simply furnished with good beds. The bathroom has terrible wood on the walls near the bath, floor tiles broken. We had room 4, this room should really not be rented with such a bathroom. This was also reported when checking out, the bathroom will be renovated soon. The room also has an elevation to go to the bathroom, so leave the bathroom light on at night otherwise it would be very dangerous. Apply some LED strip to the elevation so that it is visible in the dark. An excellent breakfast in the morning. If you book a room in this hotel and you get room 4, first check whether the bathroom has been renovated, otherwise ask for another room. Otherwise a great hotel

Disappointing dinner, basic and tasteless.

The room and hotel itself are adequate. Although the name art hotel is not appropriate.
Very conventionally decorated and there is an artistic painting here and there. The rooms are boring. But dinner (included) is a real disappointment. There is no choice, for anyone, and the result is bland and very simple.
They indicate in their information folder, which is in the room, that they expect a minimum rating of 7.5 (?) or that you should otherwise have a conversation with them so that they can respond in a timely manner. So we started a conversation. After our comment about the disappointing dinner (every evening), the argument is that they should always cook something that everyone likes!. And that's where it ends.
Advice: Ootmarsum is a really nice little picturesque town (village character) but I would recommend a different stay. Certainly not Hotel Restaurant Van de Maas.

Classic hotel

In the middle of a very tourist style village. The staff were welcoming and we soon were in our room with our bicycles in the garage around the back. A short stroll took us to the local grocery shop. Dinner was a set hotel menu and was served promptly at 6:30pm. The food was excellent and well plated. Other people were having an ala carte menu. There service was fast and very friendly. Our room was good, the beds comfortable and the shower was most welcoming after a day of cycling. Breakfast was the usual assortment of fruit, cheese, meats, bread and eggs. Of course tea and great coffee.
