A super experience
We need to be close to Thorn, Netherlands for a classic car event and found this hotel & restaurant combination online. We choose a junior suite at a great price that included breakfast. So far, so good. We arrived, parked at the rear of the property and commenced check-in, to be told that actually the sleeping of the complex was 100 meters away, OK no big deal. The hotel is next to a large lake/waterway that is very popular for tourists and cyclists which meant that the car park for the separate block was full, now that was annoying, we even asked people who had parked if they were staying at the hotel they all replied "Yes" as we watched them head off to the beach club on the lake. So, parked the car best I could with a note in the windscreen. The room was super if somewhat dated, two single beds, fully fitted kitchen and a huge bath/shower room. There was a small balcony we could sit outside on so with a few cold drinks, very happy with the hotel choice. We walked back to the restaurant to have dinner, the food was good and not expensive. A warm summer's evening walk back to the room and after a good nights sleep back for breakfast. A vast choice that would cater for any taste, a definite 10 out of 10. Would we go back again? Well we certainly would but we understand the hotel will close at the end of September 2025 to be redeveloped a an elder persons home, shame that.

Bit dated but friendly people and very well priced
At the reception it was a bit of a wait but once someone arrived it was very friendly, there was even an attempt - also by myself - to be funny and I always find that fun.
The hotel room was spacious. There were 2 single beds - I actually prefer to sleep with my madame in a large bed but that kind of bed is apparently only available in a limited number of rooms - separated by a large tall closet from a kind of seating area. A large flat screen could turned to sitting room or beds. There was an (empty) fridge and a coffee machine (Senseo, never seen in a hotel...) and in some kitchen cupboards were plates, bags and cutlery. There was a small balcony that overlooked the neighbor's hedge. The bathroom was spacious with bath and shower. Negative was the somewhat musty smell that was in the room, probably coming from the carpet. the whole thing looked a bit dated but it was spacious and clean and that is what stuck with me the most.
Breakfast was in the other building. There was a breakfast buffet , not immediately phenomenal but that was completely made up for in my opinion by the fact that all possible eggs were fried by a friendly kitchen lady.
The night before we had dinner in the restaurant. We chose a menu formula and the quality was ok, the price too. It was striking that we were all alone in the restaurant, not pleasant.
All in all, I look back satisfied on evening and night in Oolderhof. It is not a blitz modern hotel and the test of time is slowly starting to strike. But that is more than compensated by the friendliness of the staff and management and the low pricing.

Great value for money
In addition, it was quiet and we could sleep very well. Because we woke up early in our habits, we took a short walk along the water and watched the sun rise.
Afterwards we went to the rich breakfast buffet.
There's nothing to complain about. We would definitely come back.
