A good hotel that lives up to its 4-star rating

A good hotel that lives up to its 4-star rating. The management deserves credit for understanding that, to compensate for aging facilities, hospitality and service must be top-notch. And in that regard, they’ve really succeeded.
Our Deluxe room was decent and comfortable, although the bathroom could easily have been renovated. Not enough light, a low-end vanity mirror, no handheld showerhead, etc.
That said, the hotel is perfectly located, and the breakfast buffet deserves a special mention: it is perfect.
The food at the bar-restaurant, where we had a quick lunch on the day we arrived, was perfectly fine.
We stayed three nights at the Marriott, and if we ever return to Rotterdam, we’ll likely stay there again.
A suggestion for improvement to management: when hosting a couple, two bottles of water per day instead of one would be appreciated. The same goes for bathrobes and slippers…

Too bad, not worthy of 5 stars

We were asked if we would like a room high or low. Highly rated, low rated. See photo for the view. The shower gel was on very annoying if you are already in the shower, called to reception when new was brought. The fixed shower head does not spray far when you stand under it, you press the button again with your back. Around 00:30 an employee with a very loud radio across the hallway. You would expect that given the time you would take that into account in terms of sound.
Staff are friendly but all in all a 3 star experience.

Fijn om te lezen dat u onze medewerkers als vriendelijk heeft ervaren. Tegelijkertijd vinden wij het erg jammer dat uw verblijf niet volledig aan uw verwachtingen heeft voldaan.
Onze excuses dat wij uw voorkeur voor een kamer op een hogere verdieping niet hebben kunnen realiseren, zeker nadat wij hier zelf naar hebben gevraagd. Wij begrijpen dat dit verwachtingen heeft gewekt en dat het teleurstellend voor u was toen hier uiteindelijk niet aan kon worden voldaan.
Daarnaast betreuren wij het ongemak dat u heeft ervaren door de lege douchegel en de vaste douchekop. Ook de overlast van de luide portofoon op de gang laat niet de rustige nachtrust zien die wij onze gasten willen bieden. Uw opmerkingen zijn gedeeld met de betrokken afdelingen, zodat wij hier extra aandacht aan kunnen besteden.

High end though lacking a good cooling air on

Visited the Rotterdam Marriott with the family. As we booked one of the dinner packages we stayed in one of the junior suits. A spacious corner room with a separate dressing room and large bathroom. The style of the room however is rather outdated, it’s in dire need of a modern touch up. The airconditioning is not temperate controlled, just level 1, 2 etc and didn’t really cool the room. This did impact our sleep quality.
Happy hour at the lounge was a nice treat, and we were amazed by the plate serviced breakfast. Lovely!

Great

Very good Marriott, in the middel of the town, easily reachable by train or car. Spacious, clean rooms, great breakfast, good restaurants inside the hotel.
