Good hotel in Schiedam very nice little town near Rotterdam
The hotel is beautiful and completely renovated
The beds are very comfortable and the room is spacious
Schiedam is really a beautiful little town to walk around
The hotel is a bit off-center but thanks to that it was very very quiet and we slept great.
On the other hand, breakfast is to be reviewed... Honestly for a 4* it's not okay!
It was good but:
no fresh bread
no gray bread
no homemade jam
no homemade things such as pancakes or other
no eggs on demand (only scrambled)
no appetizing granola (industrial)
Anyway, you understood that for a 4* we clearly expected something else
Because we paid the price.
Too bad because otherwise it was good
The beds are very comfortable and the room is spacious
Schiedam is really a beautiful little town to walk around

Too expensive for what you get
People are rallye nice but the price is just too expensive for what you get. Due to a booking on a short notice the only available option was the suite. But the "suite" does not have a suite feeling... there is only one small top light window and it is verdammt dark. What is lacking the most is a heart and soul... would not book again as more than 300 Euro the night for a suite that feels like a cellar room is not appropriate. But again, the people are very friendly.

Stay away from this hotel
EVIL! Stay out of here. Never been treated so badly in a hotel. No staff present after 9 o'clock in the evening. If an emergency occurs after this time, they'll just abandon you. After calling several emergency numbers from the hotel we finally got James on the line. Although James was on emergency duty, he was too lousy to even come to the hotel. We couldn't get back into our room. Had nothing! No phone, no drinking, no 'toothbrush' and therefore not our medication. For hours, James had us puzzle ourselves with emergency passes and keys that didn't work. Only the next morning the lovely lady from the kitchen helped us get back into our room! After which the unhelpful James had the guts to get angry with this dear lady. (Dear Lady, corporate hospitality must be you)
In addition to this unparalleled poor service, our "wellness suite" was anything but as promised. The jacuzzi was without water and the sauna didn't even work. How the bed was, yes I can't tell you because we didn't even get to sleep in this room.
Besides the fact that the hotel has a great lack of staff who can help the guests, the hotel is also filled with dirty foreign dock workers. On the benches in the hallways hang bored unsavory men with bare feet and bags of chips around them. They appear to live here months a year. Safe it feels anything but.
And to top it all off, the receptionist also tried to overprint our 22-year-old port, wine and Laguiole bottle opener that we had brought for our nice weekend away together.
It was a weekend in which a lot went wrong. Promising that the manager would contact us. Unfortunately, we never spoke to the manager. Brutal decisions were played through through staff but the manager never bothered to speak to us.
We gave him another two days to contact us but unfortunately he did not want to do this. Therefore here this honest review.
The good stars this hotel still has are clearly from the previous owner. The current policy....pfff stay away here!!!

Mixed experience
This is a difficult one to review - some good points and some not so good. Firstly, I booked via Hotels.com and the description of the hotel describes it has having a restaurant, coffee shop, bar area, secure underground parking. However on checking in, I was told that none of these facilities were available as the hotel was being renovated. The hotel doesn't appear to be in a particularly nice area and when I asked if it was safe to park my car on the roadside, I was told it was "relatively safe", not what you really want to hear and seeing rats running outside the front of the hotel doesn't help - which isn't the fault of the hotel of course, but not nice to see. With the lack of facilities, I tried to cancel the room, but the hotel refused, pointing out that the refurbishments and reduced facilities were mentioned on their website - which they may have been, but weren't mentioned on the booking site I used. To be fair, the Manager was very helpful though. He arranged it so I could park behind a secure gate and also arranged for someone to serve drinks from the bar and I was able to get takeaway food delivered in.
The room itself was very nice, tucked away on the 3rd floor and easy to get to if the elevator was working. The room was very spacious, nice Rituals toiletries and a large comfy bed which would give a good nights sleep if not for the early morning noise outside the hotel.
For what you actually get though, I felt the hotel was rather expensive. Builders dust in some of the public areas, disappointment due to lack of facilities etc, I would expect better for €125.00 per night.
The room itself was very nice, tucked away on the 3rd floor and easy to get to if the elevator was working. The room was very spacious, nice Rituals toiletries and a large comfy bed which would give a good nights sleep if not for the early morning noise outside the hotel.

Disconsolate hotel without any charm or extras, price quality absolutely disproportionate
An atmosphereless hotel (kind of block box) in a sad extinct location. 1 girl behind the counter and no other staff seen. We visited this hotel from Saturday to Sunday. There was a 'private party' in the restaurant so we couldn't get anything to drink at the bar (also taking it to the room was not possible). The rooms are spacious and the beds are nice but also have no appearance.
Breakfast for 15,- pp was very basic and unimaginative, no fruit. The few set tables in a strange kind of golden cages were not cleared, the mess of the few other guests present was still there and there were no clean plates and cutlery (we had to ask for). The remnants of the party from the night before are still visible everywhere. 1 employee who sighed that he was having a hard time because it had become so late because of the party and asked again... even though sad. On Booking.com, this hotel is so often rated 10 without any explanation that it can't help but be fake reviews.
