A truly great place - fabulous interiors and service

We loved our overnight stay at the Poshtel in Oamaru. We stayed in the Golf Room which was beautifully appointed. The whole hotel has stunning interiors. The included breakfast was amazing with fresh fruit, bagels, local cheeses, muffins, and a variety of breads. The location was great, an easy walk to good local restaurants and the Victorian Precinct. Trinity was great, lovely to talk to and very helpful to ensure we had a great stay and good onward journey. Highly recommended.

Great boutique hotel in a very good location

Were on our 4 week tour for one night at Poshtel, had a "petite room".
Location: Restaurants and the Victorian Precinct within walking distance, you can also drive, parking everywhere well possible, there is also not too much activity here.
Equipment: magnificent historical base note seasoned with modern design. Great!
Rooms: small but well equipped, very clean. High feel-good factor.
Breakfast: Buffet form, the hotel was very well booked, so it was a bit tight, but the offer is good and the quality is right. But please do not expect a 5* buffet.
Service: friendly & helpful.
Conclusion: for us a very good decision to make a stop here, on the one hand we liked Oamaru itself very much, on the other hand the hotel offered a change from other accommodations in this price range, which often have much less atmosphere.

A Characterful Stay in the Heart of Oamaru

We stayed at Poshtel while in Oamaru to meet up with friends for an evening out. Check-in was smooth and friendly, and the hotelier gave us a quick tour, which was a nice touch and helped us get our bearings.
We were allocated the fishing-themed room, which was full of character. The lounge area had a collection of fishing-related artefacts, including rods, gaffs, model ducks and trout. There was also a sofa and armchairs arranged in a way that would be ideal for relaxing or having friends back in the room. There were two TVs, one in the lounge and another by the bed.
The bathroom was well appointed and the shower was excellent. Breakfast was also a highlight, with an continental array and plenty of choice.
Our only minor criticism was the standard lamp in the lounge, which was rather dim and appeared to be faulty. A brighter, more functional lamp would have made the lounge area feel warmer and more inviting.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. Poshtel is an interesting and distinctive place with plenty of character, rather than feeling like a conventional hotel. The friendly welcome, comfortable room, excellent shower and good breakfast made for a very enjoyable stay. We would happily stay here again when visiting Oamaru.

We came to Oamaru for a 2-night stay to celebrate a friend's birthday and wanted somewhere special to base ourselves. Poshtel is certainly that place surrounded by living history, items and ornaments that tell a story. We had a wonderful ground-floor room that celebrated the legacy of the snooker hall and billiards. It was light, airy and spacious with modern facilities and everything we needed. And the location in the heart of the main street is a bonus.

Great place the lady from Belfast who checked me in was outstanding so helpful the place is magnificent comfortable bed nice continental breakfast where the girl was also very helpful will definitely stay again.
