Appreciated the free breakfast. Handy location with parking. Shower was barely warm which wouldn’t be pleasant mid winter but otherwise a great stay.

⭐ 1/5 — Extremely disappointing customer service during the booking process

⭐ 1/5 — Extremely disappointing customer service during the booking process
I am writing this review based on my experience with Reavers Lodge during the booking process, before my actual stay.
My wife and I independently made two bookings at Reavers Lodge due to a genuine misunderstanding. One booking was for three nights and the other for four nights, resulting in an accidental duplicate booking. We only require one room.
I contacted the property and politely explained the situation, hoping that management might consider a goodwill exception and refund the duplicate night. I completely understand that the bookings were made under a non-refundable policy, and I was not asking the property to ignore its terms and conditions. I was simply asking for some understanding and consideration in the case of an obvious human error.
Unfortunately, my interaction with the manager, Mr. Ben, was extremely disappointing.
During our conversation, he repeatedly referred to the situation as our fault and said words to the effect of:
"You and your wife selected the dates. As per the terms and conditions you did the booking. It's your fault."
He also said:
"We could talk for the entire day, but it's not going to help you."
When I was trying to explain the circumstances, I was also told:
"Don't interrupt in between."
I understand that a property has policies and that a manager may ultimately have to say no to a refund. However, there is a big difference between enforcing a policy and speaking to a customer in a dismissive and disrespectful manner.
A genuine mistake can happen to anyone. I was not asking for something unreasonable or trying to avoid paying for accommodation that I had used. I was simply asking whether the property could consider a goodwill solution for an accidental duplicate booking.
What concerns me most is the lack of empathy and willingness to listen from the manager. A customer should be able to explain a genuine problem without being made to feel that their concern is not worth discussing.
Importantly, this review is based solely on my experience during the booking process. I have not yet stayed at Reavers Lodge, so I cannot comment on the rooms, cleanliness, facilities or overall accommodation experience. Given the way my concern has been handled before my stay, however, I am genuinely concerned about what the experience will be like once I arrive — if I ultimately stay there.
I have raised the matter with Agoda and have also requested that the property’s senior management review the way this situation was handled.
I hope Reavers Lodge management takes this feedback seriously. Even when a refund cannot be provided, customers deserve to be treated with courtesy, patience and respect.
