A great spot to unwind, chill, meet people and relax
Just a few minutes’ drive from Raglan, Solscape is perched on a hill with absolutely stunning ocean views. We stayed in one of the clay/earth huts, which was such a cool and unique experience. It was rustic but very comfortable, especially the bed. There are also retired train carriages scattered around the property, offering simple yet fun and character filled accommodation options.
The grounds are beautiful, with plenty of native trees and well maintained pathways to wander through. The shared facilities are spacious and cleaned daily, with plenty of cooking pots, plates, and utensils available.
One of the highlights is the huge deck overlooking the ocean, with a lovely grassed area out front. There was a brazier lit while we were there, making it a great place to relax, chat, and connect with other guests.
The café serves excellent coffee and matcha, along with delicious homemade food. During our three night stay, the pizza oven was fired up twice such a treat! Great pizza, an amazing atmosphere under the stars, and a super chill vibe with a DJ playing laid-back music both nights.
Solscape isn’t five-star luxury, it’s rustic but that’s exactly its charm. The vibe is fantastic, the staff are friendly and helpful, the accommodation is simple yet comfortable and fun, and the views are the best in Raglan. The evening atmosphere was as good as anywhere in the world.
We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back soon.
Thanks so much to the team for a fun, relaxing, and memorable experience.
Grace & Brett.
PS we did not use it but there is a lovely sauna with sea views and beautiful spa pools and yoga.

Run down faculties campsite is the parking lot
Facilities were run down. For our family to use the sauna it would cost an extra 100 for an hour use.
There is lots of free camping in raglan and I would recommend that instead for self contained campers.
The kids enjoyed the trampoline and the view is beautiful.

Solscape. Its current state.
But over the last few years I have seen lack of upkeep. Projects are abandoned and the greenhouse now in disuse. The Tepee village has been all but abandoned, with just one last tepee standing, and looking neglected. The main cooking area has a real lack of cutlery, pots and pans and drying cloths. There are no plugs for the sinks, so to wash up the plug holes need to be sealed with garden leaves. The caboose cabins are rusting badly and some may be beyond repair. Half completed projects are left with grass growing around the resultant building debris.
I was still coming here though as I felt I could turn a blind eye to all of this, as there was still value in staying. But on my last trip the teenage son of the owner was racing around the main accomodation area on a motorised scooter and did not heed my requests to stop. Families were staying at that time with toddlers walking around. This young man and his friends were later running amok in the cafe area. That was the last straw for me. I asked for a refund, which was granted without question and I found alternative accomodation. I will not be returning to Solscape again in its current state. Very sad for me. And also for a once beautiful vision.
