Views of the fjord are unparalleled if you have a fjord facing room. Easy walk to local amenities, bus stop, and ferry quay. The staff were all very polite, friendly and accommodating. We stayed with a 19 month old and there was no fridge in our deluxe double room nor any dedicated child or baby menus. During the dinner service they offered to make some pasta with butter or oil and some vegetables, it was beautifully presented and there were good options at breakfast for the little one. However, the hotel would do really well to work on baby friendly food options since they could easily offer healthy snack plates for resident parents to feed in the room or in the bar (eg cucumber, tomatoes, fruit) and healthy main meal options with low salt eg salmon or chicken fillet, broccoli, spinach, rice, potatoes etc.

Outstanding quality, from the service/staff being incredibly accommodating, breakfast that feels like a 5-star start to your day, to the view from the room overlooking the fjord, I would highly recommend.

I rate this hotel at 2.5 stars. Its dated and linens and amenities are not the best. We were equipped with two, flat pillows for a King size bed. Decor was blah. They could make up for this with great hospitality but ….
That was subpar as well. They do not answer phones or messaging

Great stay, of course pricey given summer demand, but it was a nice hotel, with a great breakfast. I want to specifically mention gratitude and appreciation for one of the staff members who brought a wedding ring we left behind in the bathroom over to the Fretheim Hotel. I unfortunately didn't get their name, but it saved us a trip and the cost of getting back over there since we didn't have a vehicle.

Great old boutique hotel overlooking the fjord in Aurlandsfjord, Norway. After standing in lines and being surrounded by tourists in other cities, Aurlandsfjord was a wonderful, quiet break from the crowds. It was easy to step outside the hotel and explore the small area or take a walk along the fjord. For our fjord tour, we were picked up right at the shore, just a short walk from the hotel, which was very convenient.
We stayed on the fourth floor, which was only accessible by stairs after taking the elevator to the second floor (then two additional flights). This wasn’t an issue or a deal breaker for either my wife or me.
The dining room was a highlight of our stay, both for dinner and breakfast. The food was very good, with beautiful views of the fjord, a great atmosphere, and attentive service.
It could not have been a better experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel when visiting Aurlandsfjord.
