A lovely historic hotel with great views to the front.

A lovely historic hotel with friendly staff & a great breakfast selection (particularly enjoyed the 'brown cheese' - a Norwegian goat cheese that's expensive in the UK). It's worth paying extra for the front facing rooms for the view of the Fiord. Very well kept & clean hotel. A little expensive. No air-conditioning is provided, but we had requested a fan and that had been provided in the room prior to arrival. There are some nice public areas with views of the Fiord where you can sit, including the tower room above the hotel. Location is great for everything in Flam & beyond!

Great location

At US$500 a night this hotel was completely underwhelming. Very tired and disjointed. Small rooms with no TV, no aircon , no moisturiser or tissues and the shower is over a bath but water goes everywhere once you shower. Comes with a dressing gown and slippers. Unfortunately there is not many other choices of where to stay hence this hotel has a monopoly. Parking was US12 a night. Location is very good and you can see the cruise ship in the harbour. We ended up eating pizza at the hostel as we refused to pay US$40 for a burger! The pizza was delicious!

Ok stay

This is a perfectly adequate hotel but the only reason to stay here is the access it provides to the scenic train and boat rides. Room was ok. Buffet dinner was very good. But there’s just this nagging feeling that it’s a pretty ordinary property that only exists to hold tourists captive since so little competition. Having said that my impression was that it was the best of few options

Lovely location but hotel not worth price

Lovely location but really expensive for what you get. Bed was uncomfortable, towels were thin and threadbare and there was nothing luxury to warrant the eye-watering price.
If you’re going to the area try to book somewhere as early as possible so you don’t have to pay those prices!

Terrible

This is the worst hotel I have ever been. The room was very old, dark and not clean with a bad smell coming from the corridor. The bathroom looked like a 1 star hotel, actually I think 1 star hotels have a better bathroom. My folded towels,supposed to be clean, had hair on them. I had to ask twice to get a clean towel as the first time I asked for I clean one the pair of towels I got had some black stains on them again. They also take the privilege to ask for an additional charge for an espresso (while most of the 4 stars hotels I have been in Norway don’t). I could have accepted that from a great hotel and service but not in this case.
I had to storage the luggage by myself while waiting for the scary room to be ready.
Awful. Zero star review is too much for this hotel.
