A true gem of a hotel. Genuine character with modern design.
The building was an old mill and is full of genuine charm and character. Added to that, the refurbishment into a hotel is modern and gives you all the luxury you could ask for.
We have a room on the side facing the river. We were on the 4th or 8 floors. The room was a great size, it had two comfy chairs, was right at the end of the main high street for food and shopping. Car parking was right outside and reasonable. The restaurant was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. The outside seating next to the river was first class.
The receptionist was incredibly helpful with where to eat, what to see etc. We wish we had stayed two days. The rooftop bar was a great way of ending the evening.
Essential activities include walking the 936 steps up the ski jump. Eddie the Eagle Nostalgia.
A brilliant hotel to end our holiday.

But the double room (with 2 beds) we had was so small that we could not bring along our suitcases. Not eve one, had to just bring what we needed for one night. The room was more like a single room, not big enough for a queen bed either!
Fancy coffeemaker but no instructions on how to work it ...
NO service in the restaurant, the food wasn't very impressive either.
These "problems" can be fixed ... maybe a brainstorming session with the staff can be of help ...

Bad.
I am a guest at the hotel and have a valid reservation. When I came to check in, the night guard refused me my room. He claimed that there were no more available rooms, despite the fact that I have a confirmed reservation.
This is perceived as very poor service and is a situation that should not occur. When a guest has a valid booking, one expects to be able to check in without any problems. I hope you take this matter seriously and investigate what has happened so no other guests experience the same.
I look forward to an explanation and a solution to this matter.
