Exceptional Luxury Stay
My stay at Hotel Ullensvang from 15 to 18 June was truly unforgettable. Nestled on the shores of the breathtaking Hardangerfjord, the hotel offers one of the most spectacular views I have ever experienced. Waking up each morning to the peaceful reflection of the fjord and surrounding mountains was simply magical.
The hospitality was exceptional from the moment I arrived. Every member of the team was warm, professional, and genuinely attentive, making me feel welcomed throughout my stay. My room was spacious, beautifully maintained, and perfectly positioned to enjoy the incredible scenery.
The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options enjoyed against an unforgettable panoramic backdrop. The hotel’s facilities, including the pools, wellness areas, and beautifully landscaped surroundings, made it the perfect place to relax after exploring the stunning Hardanger region.
Hotel Ullensvang is more than just a hotel—it is a destination in itself. If you’re looking for a place that combines Norwegian hospitality, timeless elegance, and one of the most beautiful fjord settings in the world, I couldn’t recommend it more highly. I look forward to returning.

Don’t believe the pictures. 2-3 star hotel hyped up as 4 stars.
We have traveled all over Asia, North America and Europe, and this was by far one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we have had.
We booked a family room with four beds, but it was extremely cramped and uncomfortable for a family. The bathroom was even smaller than one you would find on a cruise ship. Our room also had what was described as a balcony, but it was more like a small enclosed space filled with trash, which was an awful first impression. Additionally, the phone in our room didn’t work and they made one attempt to fix it and gave up.
We were especially frustrated because the hotel advertises activities like bowling and foosball, and we had hoped to use them to celebrate our child’s birthday. Despite asking to use the bowling alley ahead of time, they told us on arrival that they’re not able to offer it to due to staffing shortages. The very next day, someone else was bowling and when we confronted them, they just said they had staff today. Probably had nothing to do with us being tourists (the folks playing were likely locals). The foosball and table-tennis equipment that was available had damaged or missing balls.
The restaurant service was abysmal. We had to call waiters over several times just to get water, and the buffet was bland, repetitive, and disappointing. Breakfast was also underwhelming, with no live omelet station.
It was frustrating to learn that pool access costs extra, while the outdoor hot tub is adults-only. Overall, the hospitality was nonexistent. No one seemed to care whether we were enjoying our stay or whether the advertised amenities were actually available.
The views are incredible but that’s a function of Mother Nature. It would look just as beautiful if we were camping in a tent.
We will not be returning and would not recommend Hotel Ullensvang.

Terrible room in disrepair. Shower soap dispenser fallen on the floor. Shower mixer fallen on the floor. Despite of 4 complaints to reception. Not fixed and refused to change our room. Dinner buffet, my advise stay away and save money. Ridiculously expensive and there is hardly any edible food. Go to the nearby pizza shop that was flooded by the hotel guests who did their research.

The hotel impresses with its beautiful location by the water. Nothing more. Everything is showing its age: the room is old, the stairwell is filthy, and from 5 p.m. on, it smells like fish on all floors. It was 4 stars 30 years ago.
