I arrived at Hilton Salalah in very difficult personal circumstances. Around a day and a half before leaving Prague, I had to put my beloved cat Witchy to sleep after almost 18 years together. The trip had been planned long before, and by the time I reached Salalah close to midnight on 12 August, I was emotionally exhausted.
This was my second visit to Oman this year, after Muscat in February, and I had specifically chosen Salalah in August because I wanted to experience the Khareef season.
What I did not expect was just how kind and supportive the Hilton Salalah team would be.
From the beginning, the staff made a real effort to help me feel safe, comfortable and at home. Their smiles, patience and warmth genuinely helped during a very difficult time.
Special thanks to **Joanna**, **Manu**, **Haseeb**, **Al Amin**, **Majbal**, **Ali**, and all the other staff members whose names I unfortunately do not remember. Every one of them contributed in some way to making my stay better.
The room was excellent — spacious, comfortable, very well cleaned and maintained. Breakfast was great, and because the hotel was relatively quiet, the peaceful atmosphere was exactly what I needed.
I swim regularly, so I really appreciated the large swimming pool, and I also used the gym during my stay. I would also highly recommend the **Thai massage** — the ladies were fantastic.
The reception also recommended a local guide, **Mohammed**, who was absolutely excellent and helped make my experience of Salalah even more special.
A small tip for visitors during Khareef: come prepared for insects and mosquitoes, especially if you are sensitive or allergic. Bring repellent, creams and any medication you normally use. For me, this was probably the only real challenge of the season. On the other hand, the air during Khareef felt incredibly fresh and almost therapeutic.
There were a few minor hiccups during the stay, but what impressed me was how professionally and kindly they were handled. I also really appreciated the complimentary late checkout.
This trip turned out completely differently from what I had imagined, but in the end Hilton Salalah gave me exactly what I needed: peace, space, kindness and a place to slowly clear my head.
I am deeply grateful and would absolutely stay here again.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
⚠️ BED BUGS — AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We stayed at Hilton Salalah Oman for just 5 days and brought bed bugs home with us. We were bitten and suffered severe itching, and the infestation spread to our home. In 30 years of traveling, we have never experienced anything like this. Check your room carefully with a flashlight immediately upon arrival for signs of bed bugs. This is a serious health and hygiene issue and can become a nightmare long after you leave the hotel.
Add to this horrible food and boring hotel with zero indoor activity.

We fully understand how concerning and unsettling this must have been, particularly when you were expecting a comfortable and relaxing experience with us.
Following the investigation, no evidence or presence of bed bugs was identified in the room, including the bedding and mattress.
While the investigation did not identify bed bugs, we certainly do not wish to dismiss the experience you had. We sincerely regret any discomfort or concern this may have caused you and your guests.
Kindly also note that in Salalah, especially around our hotel location as there is a natural preserve located in the premises of our property, mosquitoes are common and widely spread in the area, and mosquito bites may sometimes be mistaken for other types of bites. And, if we may add from personal experience, that for us being resident here in Salalah we experience the same bites.
And depends on different bodies reaction, the bites might be visible immediately or after couple of days.
We remain committed to maintaining the highest hygiene and safety standards, and we appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention.
We are also sorry to hear that you were disappointed with our food selection and the available indoor activities. Your feedback regarding these areas has been shared with the relevant departments as we continue to look for ways to improve our guests' overall experience.
