Great base

(+) Really nice, quiet hotel on the edge of Casco Viejo. Gated entry where you have to be buzzed in so we always felt safe. Clean room and bathroom, comfortable bed. Hot shower. Good strong air conditioning. Good value for the area. Perfect as a base for exploring.
(-) As other reviews have mentioned this is on the edge of Casco Viejo, the neighbourhood to the left can be a bit dodgy for tourists and I was catcalled by the taxi men outside the hotel, but going right you're in the old town which is perfectly safe. The room could have done with a bin. There was nowhere to hang towels in the bathroom.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice comfortable room. At first we wanted to check it out for some student groups we manage in Panama. And although from the outside and upon arrival the hotel looked fine, after some interactions with the staff it became evident that customer service was very lacking.
We arrived 30 mins before checkin and we were informed the room was not ready which is understandable. And returned 30 mins after the checkin time and the room was still not ready. We left the hotel and returned later at night and found no soap, shampoo and an almost finished toilet paper roll. The airconditioning unit is in a desperate need of some cleaning and travellers need to be aware that this hotel is in a not do safe part of Vasco Antiguo, has several floors and not lift!

Excellent location but bad room

The location is excellent, however our room did not have windows and was full of exempt! There's no fridge either. The breakfast, served in the restaurant next to the hotel, is very good. In summary I found very expensive for poor accommodation.

NO HOT WATER / NO ELECTRICITY / NO WAY !!!

Hotel Caracas is UNACCEPTABLE - to anyone who requires a civilized hotel experience. NO HOT WATER and NO ELECTRICITY at all in the bathroom! No provision to sit down (except a desk) nor to store clothes (except a rod hanger with 2 hangers) and NO BAR FRIDGE.
We had to vacate after 2 days. Booking.com was NO help in securing a refund for the balance of the 9 day booking - but then they NEVER are - in fact they "declined" to publish my review - I wonder why?! I realize that this is an economy hotel, but the 3rd party (Booking) needs to come clean w.r.t. the amenities.
In its defence the hotel did refund my money - in cash.

Perfect location and good price

I loved this hotel - I used it as my base each time I traveled through Panama City.
The location is perfect / there is a lovley park opposite it. A huge hypermarket just down the road and it’s at the top of Cosco Viejo making it ideal to walk to all the land marks. There are heaps of police in this area you feel really safe.
The rooms are huge / nicely decorated with air con. The en suite bathrooms are spotless and there are toiletries supplied.
My only wish is that at night they had a sign reminding guests to be quiet when they come home. However it’s not a problem - it’s just the odd person that forgets they are not the only person staying there.
I found the hotel great value for money as I spoke with many backpackers who were paying the same and more for a bed in a dorm. The shower water is cool but it’s so hot in Panama City that it was refreshing
Lacy on reception was fantastic and helped me with my reservations and bag storage while I went on trips to the San Blas and Costa Rica.
I highly recommend this hotel
