Great place to Stay

Welcoming and helpful staff and the best breakfast that I have had at a hotel, this hostel was one of my favorites. Originally I was only going to stay there one night, but I ended up staying 3 nights. Located a little away from the center so it is quiet. I would stay here for my next trip to Cusco.

Lack of communication

We arrived in Cusco at 11pm, the address and phone number we were given were incorrect. Being lost in an unfamiliar area late at night was no bueno. We also had no idea this hostel was a school/orphanage so that added to the confusion. The front desk spoke zero English so unfortunately we were not given good information such as breakfast times. However they were friendly and the rooms had a bed and a hot shower.

Good place overall. Take some points for a better stay

The hostal is close to the heart of cusco, even thought the street itself is darkish, so be somewhat careful. But you should be fine. The plaza de armas is close to it and everything you'll need is there. The staff is ready to help you out, although there isn't much "staff" around at times. When you get there, don't be surprised by the students (the hostel is inside a school, but it shouldn't affect your stay) and ask someone to get you a coca leaf tea for the altitude. You'll need it. The rooms are good, confortable and the bathroom is nice too. If your room opens to the corridor, ask the staff to turn off the lights at nights, or else they may illuminate your room a bit affecting your sleep if you are a light sleeper. Don't make deals with taxi drivers and don't pay them ahead of service. Some are eager to fool you (and the others to make amends, as this is a tourist town and this hurts business) so by aware at all times. The hostel itself have very good cost-efficiency given how close it is to the center (and how bloated the prices are when close to it). Breakfast is good enough and very some options (yogurt, bread, cheese, ham, fruits, juice etc). Before going on a trip, stop by the reception and get some coca candies (helps facing the altitude) and some snacks. You'll thank me later. It is a nice option overall.

Quaint and comfortable

This hostal is located inside a school, so in the morning, if you're staying in the single room, you may hear kids reciting their lessons and classroom equipment being moved around.
Room is cleaned every day.
Location is really good, a 2-minute walk to Qorikancha.
The staff does not really speak English, but are very nice.
Breakfast is decent but same every day.

Quiet, affordable and near to the heart of Cusco

This bed and breakfast accommodation is run by nuns and is part of a Catholic school complex. It is a great place from which to base your day trips in and around Cusco. The breakfast is a nice buffet of bread, cheese, cold cuts, cereal, yogurt, juices, etc. Unfortunately, we had early morning tours and missed many of the breakfasts.
The rooms were very comfortable and clean and the sisters were very helpful. They even took some clothes my wife had washed in the sink and hung them to dry in their laundry area.
The hostel is next to the Temple of the Sun and is easy walking distance to the Plaza de Armas and other sites in Cusco. We arrived late and left early several times and the staff was always pleasant and helpful with our comings and goings.
There is free wifi and a computer near the lobby, which was useful.
There is a luggage storage room where we were able to lighten our load for our 4 day trip to Manu National Park.
