Loved Jennifer

Loved Jennifer. But no cell service, no tv and wifi only some times a day. My favorite part was the monkey island, we got to give the monkey bananas, one even sat on me! Wish i was rich so that i could revisit. If you are wondering: Jennifer is a monkey that got rescued from illegal hunting, and someone gave her to the lodge, she isnt there the whole time so i think we were lucky be seeing her.

The best Place to stay in Pucallpa

I have absolutely loved stating here (1 month) its really comfortable, great showers, there's an excellent restaurant and it's in one of the few reserves around Pucallpa with all sorts of animals and birds still surviving here - including Monkeys, Owls, Caiman, Armadillos, and Anacondas. You can see pink river dolphins swimming in the lake in the mornings. The owner Juan and his family have kept it pristine since the bought it 40 years ago and it's one of the few places in Pucallpa that still feels like you're in the jungle. Free mangoes falling off the tree and the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable,

Genuinely fantastic place

Jene Shopbo is a gem in Pulcallpa - its beautifully built by an architect, and is authentically natural and eco - while being top quality, 4 or 5 stars. The rooms are stunning with beautiful views, hammock and lots of space. But whats really special is the surrounds - you are in a small slice of protected jungle, with all the birds and animals of the jungle. The staff, the owner and the nature guide there are all super helpful, warm and genuinely happy to have you there. Jene shobo is right on the lake, for swimming and watching pink dolphins swim past. Only drawback may be that its 15mins outside Pulcallpa, but its really worth the drive (or boat ride) and any transiting to and from the hotel is organised by the hotel if you like. Im so glad I found the place. I hope you get to enjoy it too.

Enjoy Yarinacocha in style.

Perfect location. All the tranquillity you would expect from an ecolodge. Clean, safe, and lots of ambience. Yarinacocha is not as remote as it once was, but you wouldn't know that the lodge is surrounded by villages and town. Hardly the middle of a city either, but this not one of the remote reserves. The lake rises substantially in the rainy season so the property will vary vastly depending on the time of year. June through November is low water season.

Jungle feeling, 10' from the city

Jene Shobo is a magic place: the owner bought something like 10 ha in an heavily deforested area and started to reforest, some 30 years ago. Now you enter in a beautiful and big forest, and once in the lodge you really feel like you are in the middle of the jungle, with an amazing view on the Yarinacocha lake.
There are 2 kinds of accomodation, and we stayed in both.
Normal rooms: relatively small but cosy, 100% wood, clean, with a nice view of the forest. All windows have mesh, so don't worry about mosquitoes.
Bungalow: incredible room, spacious, with a terrace and hammock (although it's open, there is mesh all around, no insect can enter).
The region is quite warm, but the lodge area is cooler (thanks to the forest) and the vents in the rooms are enough to keep a cool temperature (together with a clever-designed ventilation system).
The owner, Juan, is awesome, very nice and helpful. He's an architect, and he built the lodge to be as sustainable as possible, and you can see he's got experience.
The breakfast is delicious, as is the lunch if you want the eat there, and not expensive.
The only downside are the small boats on the Yarinacocha lake. There are not frequent, but their motors are very noisy. You may also ear some faint noise from Puerto Callao.
Oh, and don't miss swimming in the lake early morning, what an experience!
a great place.

Very good location
