3- day Titicaca island tour with stay at Taquile Hospedaje Mario

We can recommend a Titicaca island trip without a tour: take a taxi from Juliaca to Llachon, stay at friendly Casa de Valentin, from there by collective or private boat to Amantani island, stay with family then by boat early morning 7.30am to Taquile, with fascinating local culture and an ancient world-class weaving tradition. Mario’s place is basic (you can find pictures on google) but clean and together with his wife Juliana they serve great food and provide helpful insights into local life and weaving (spanish only). We took a beautiful late afternoon 2h walk to ‚La Playa’ (picture). From Taquile the boats leave at 12.30 back to Puno, with option to also stop at Uros islands. For those wanting a more flexible and individual schedule, this may be a good alternative to the one-night tours usually offered.
