Expected better service, but was disappointed.

We stayed here for 2 nights, a family of four. The hotel is quite a walk uphill from the train station. We all had backpacks and had to rest a few times on the way up to the hotel. When we arrived our rooms were not ready and we were told to return at 12 noon. The front desk clerk allowed us to store our bags while we waited. We returned at 2pm and our rooms were still being sorted out. We waited about 10 minutes outside while the cleaning staff emptied the garbage, replenished the toiletries and towels. The beds were comfortable but it was so cold at night! The couple days we were there it rained so maybe that was the reason. I did request extra pillows as the pillows were very flat. It took a few hours for them to bring the pillows and calls to the front desk from our room were never answered. We also needed another roll of toilet paper that my husband had to go down and get himself. There is no elevator as a side note. The customer service was not the best if I am being completely honest. Breakfast was an okay start to the day with bread, cereal, yogurt, juice, tea, coffee, cake, ham, cheese, avocado and eggs cooked to order which were delicious. The staff didn’t speak much English so we used a lot of sign language and Google Translate. I did negotiate to check out at 10am instead of 9am seeing that we checked into our room late which was good while waiting for our train back to
Ollantaytambo.

The hotel was in terrible condition and poorly maintained. The entire town is so humid due to constant rain, but the hotel is poorly maintained which makes it worse. Bathrooms had no ventilation and moldy. The bathroom doors will break if you don’t move it with extreme care. The rooms were smelly. The staff were kind, but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. I had to stay with kids, so we found it very difficult. We even skipped breakfast due to the smell in the hotel

Good basic affordable spot to spend a night

decent basic spot (clean, hot running water, breakfast from 5 am, will store your luggage) to spend the night if you take the late train to be ready for Machu Pichu the following day. Staff is nice. Watch outs: travel light, big climb up the hill to the hotel and you only get one towel.
