Peace and quiet in a relaxed beachfront setting

It has been a few years since our last visit and in the interim the resort has grown and become well-established, without losing any of the peacefulness and ambience that impressed us so much before and drew us back again.
The garden is one of the outstanding features of the resort, and it has flourished, with the trees now grown taller, and a variety of flowers in bloom. A lot of care has been given to its design, with pathways leading to hidden spaces and surprises in the form of views over the resort and lagoon that make an early morning walk a great start to the day. The sanctuary provided by the greenery is reflected in the abundant bird life that now inhabit the garden. Our favourites were the little black-headed munias and olive-backed sunbirds that can be seen easily in the callistemon trees next to the resort’s bar area.
Restaurant provides a low-key and very relaxing experience. The menu is extensive, with a range of Western and Asian food, and an excellent international wine selection, including some hard-to-find wines. The coffee is excellent. There is a good range of cocktails to start the evening, especially accompanied by some well-chosen jazz music playing in the background.
Our rooms were comfortable, quiet and unobtrusive. The layout, with different types of rooms spaced among the gardens meant that we only really met other guests around the pool in the late afternoon and in the restaurant at breakfast or in the evening at dinner.
It was very tempting to spend time reading and lounging by the pool, but there were more active forms of relaxation available, such as the yoga classes (chair and hatha yoga) held several times a week, scuba diving, swimming or snorkelling in the lagoon and kayaking, as well as walks along the beach, which are especially refreshing and peaceful at dawn and sunset. During our exploratory walks, along the way we met only a few friendly local fishermen accompanied by their dogs tending to their nets and boats.
On this visit we made a day trip, or more accurately a pre-dawn trip, to the Alicia Panoramic Park, located some 45 minutes’ drive from the resort. The grass-covered hills look daunting, and the hike to the summit was strenuous and slippery (definitely not recommended for the rainy season when the track turns to mud) but our guide was helpful, and the view from the top was magnificent and refreshing. We felt that we had definitely earned the fresh coconut drink that awaited us at the bottom on our descent.
In all, our stay at Island View Beachfront Resort felt timeless and very relaxing. The resort staff are warm, helpful and polite, and they are one of the best memories of our stay. The dining experience in particular was memorable, and unexpected in this otherwise quiet area of the Philippines. We plan to return.

Bliss

A hidden gem with a small number of guest rooms thoughtfully dotted along the exclusive stretch of beach – peaceful, uncrowded and perfect for a relaxing escape.
There’s plenty to do too – relaxing yoga classes at sunset, reading a book from the library and trekking the Alicia Panoramic Park (organised by hotel staff) were among my favourites.
A major highlight for me was the hotel's affordable and carefully curated international wine selection which was by far the best I encountered throughout the Philippines.
I’m a repeat guest for good reason. The smiling and responsive staff, the light filled accommodation (which is better in person than on the web), and the quality healthy food options.

The best of the best!

This piece of paradise had the best quality and level of service for guests I ever experienced in the Philippines, and I have been to around 10 resorts including Hennan and Oceanica, / South Palms, etc. Although the bungalow was excellent and exceptionally clean, the property spacious and well manicured, the restaurant spectacular - offering an wide variety of choices on the menu, and the private beach long and amazing, it was the stellar service we will always remember. From reception attendants quickly scooping up our bags to take them to the bungalow, to the owner asking if all was ok, to the superb housekeeping with their attention to detail (even filling the kettle with water), to professional service in the top notch and well designed restaurant, this place screams out one thing constantly: “We care about our guests!” Thank you so much Peter and all the staff at Island View. We shall return in 2 years because you and your resort are truly wonderful. Andy and Marilou

Absolutely beautiful place and so well maninted. Food on the pricey side for Philippines but was very, very nice. Gardens immaculate, beach beautiful, staff amazing. Few ants in room but that is to be expected in Philippines.
