Best Halo-halo in Town!

I gave them 5 star because of their halo halo! Better than Chowking I sweaaaar. We ordered sizzling chicken, grilled pusit and fresh wakay lumpia. Love their pako salad and tumeric cold tea! One of the better few resto you can visit in Basco.

Clean, neat, with good food selection

This pension house's restaurant may not have a spectacular view of Basco's sunset to offer (as other eateries in town do), but it has a very nice and neat dining area, a good selection of food and drinks (including some native Ivatan dishes), a strong WIFI signal, and is located just right across the Basco Airport. The staff members are also very friendly and accommodating and service is fast. The town proper of Basco is just a stone throw's away, too. Thumbs up!

Must-try for first timers in Basco

This review is for their restaurant. The restaurant offers local Batanes dishes so well that I feel this is a must-try for first-time visitors to Basco. Of course they also offer some standard fares which are quite good.
The menu offers a good list of seafood but they are not always available (depends on the season). Their line-up of local dishes is quite admirable but it's still a matter of preference. Some wouldn't find minced banana pith very exotic nor delectable for their taste.
On our visit, all our first choices were not available so we settled for what was there during the day. Good thing someone from our group ordered vegetables because they were really fresh and good and helped a lot with my digestion.
The place looks good from the outside but quite ordinary on the inside. Service isn't very notable because they had minimal staff. The orders came fast enough though. The price is a bit designed for tourists (but that is the general condition in Basco). It has a good location because it's just beside the airport - in case you want to eat before/after your flight.
Our only disappointment was that coming in, we could smell fresh bread baking in the oven of their bakery next door - only to be told that they weren't ready yet. After lunch, we tried again and got the same answer. We left without being able to taste the freshly-baked bread.

Instagrammable food but not palatable

We visited last december 2018 and ordered the Ivatan Platter. We expected too much because they are all over instagram. The food was presented really well but all tasted bland. :(
You will be overwhelmed when your order arrives at the table because it is well presented, but you will be underwhelmed once you’ve tasted it. We were disappointed with the Ivatan platter because it was supposed to showcase the delicious and authentic cuisine of the Ivatans.
The only delicious thing we’ve ordered is the dessert which is the kamote flan. We even ordered another round of the dessert after we finished the first flan. If you come at Pension Ivatan, just order the Kamote Flan. If you want traditional authentic Ivatan food, you’re better off somewhere else.

Hi ktmp830,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Please let us know what time and what day you ordered the food, we'll see to it that our chef will be informed of your experience.
Food taste is subjective and most tourists come to us because of our food. We do, however, value your opinion and we'll find ways how to satisfy all if not, the majority of our customers' palate.
We are happy that you're able to enjoy our Wakay Flan (Camote Flan)
Thank you.
