Good location

The van I traveled in from Borongan City comes in to the city directly past this hotel so I was able to be dropped off right in front. A bonus.
I stayed in a single room which was small but it had a wardrobe, long bench, chair and good lighting. The aircon and TV worked well. The restaurant has an extensive menu but many items were unavailable. Service can be indifferent but this is commonplace around Samar.
Lived up to my expectations of being one of the better choices here.

It’s a nice hotel, but a lot of restrictions (ex: no indoor smoking site; room for 2-occupants provides only 1-person for free breakfast, etc.).

Good Option

Been visiting Catbalogan City monthly over the past year for a development project, and choosing a hotel to stay in is quite a problem - very few to choose from, and then only one that is modern, cozy and relatively good. Not until Alegro Hotel opened, and is cheaper!
Stayed at a single room - small but nice. The a/c was working well. Cable TV has a lot of channels to choose from. Wifi is not working in my room then, but mobile signal is LTE (Globe user). Shower has very weak heater — complained about this, and the supervisor mentioned to wait for 5 mins. That’s waste of resources. Staff are friendly, but the restaurant service is a test of patience.

Big rooms!

We stayed here for a night with my family (we are 6). We booked 2 rooms good for 3 persons each. The rooms we got are very big! It has 2 beds - 1 double and 1 single. It has a couch, a small dining area and a pantry. The bathroom has a tub and a shower. It’s clean and decent. It’s only a transition hotel for us as we’re on our way further south by land, so it was a good resting stop coming from a contained SUV for the last 20 hours. My only qualms are that their restaurant closes early (though you can pre-order but the food came quite late after several follow-ups), and the staff, while they are very sweet and accommodating, they still need a lot of training. I’m optimistic that they’ll improve with more experience :)

Good place to stay!

Alegro hotel is a good place to stay, Clean rooms, bit small, but great beds and a good bathroom .
In my room I could not open the window because the neighbours are very close and looked in my room.
The bathroom window was above the neigbours rooster.
The rooms are a bit small, but tasteful decorated and comfortable.
Restaurant serves good food, waiting time is a bit long.
Staff is very accommodating and friendly.
Would I stay here again? Yes. It is a good hotel. Bit pricy, but good quality.
