The Peninsula Manila is the best hotel in the Philippines!

When you first walk into The Peninsula Manila, you are met with an atrium that rivals the best properties in the world. The staff treats you warmly during every step of your stay.
At check-in, Maya greeted me with a smile and escorted my family to our room - a corner suite on the 10th floor. The room was clean, the furniture and decor were clean and cared for, and the view was spectacular.
This morning at breakfast on the 3rd floor lounge, Maya greeted us with a beautiful smile and ensured that we had everything we needed. She made recommendations and created a delicious moco latte to start our day. Her professionalism, personality, and knowledge made this feel more than simply breakfast and felt as if she had proudly welcomed you into her home. If you see her, greet her with a smile and you will have be treated like family.
Everyone, from the amazing and talented mixologists at the bar to each member’s welcome as you return to the hotel, the Peninsula Manila is the hotel you will want to visit and will soon become your new home in the Philippines.

Simply superior hotel and service. Food was very good.
The only cons was waiting at the Breakfast to be seated , since they are under construction of the dining area. Pool and Gum are best !

The Peninsula Manila -- the Decay of Service Culture

This review is not about the 5-star character of the hotel but rather the back of house finance processes, in particular an error made by the Peninsula Manila in charging me a room of which charge was previously voided.
It is taking 2 and a half months of empty promises for a refund--and I am still hoping to be refunded. It makes the customer feel that the Peninsula is only interested with getting the customer's money and dismissing customer's concern. The empty promises is what gets me. Beware of the charges made by the Peninsula Manila--an indication of a decaying service culture.

Magnificent hotel, made even better by the most incredible customer service one could ask for. At every level and every part of the hotel, the staff and service are immaculate.
The rooms are a little dated for this level of hotel and could use some updating or at least some color/character or local vibe which one would expect from a hotel of this kind.
The hotel is beautiful and full of old world class and elegance. The lobby is a work of art and the restaurants, pool, gym and all other facilities are top notch. The breakfast is plentiful and probably the best I've experienced on my many stays in Manila. My only advice would be to get there early because it gets crowded pretty fast, especially on weekends.
The only negative was that one out of three elevators was out of use for my entire extended stay and it was quite inconvenient. There is no sign alerting guests to this and no one at the reception or concierge informs guests of this inconvenience at check-in or any point of my stay regarding how long it would take, which is something I would expect from a 5 stay hotel like this. When the hotel is full it caused delays and very crowded elevators.

Can’t believe this is a Peninsula

Rooms are noisy as the doors let a lot of sound in. You can hear hotel staff shouting into walkie talkies in the corridor at all hours, as well as other guests talking as they walk past.
Breakfast buffet is average, with a lot of staff but surprisingly poor service. The front desk was incompetent. Despite giving them our flight number and a specific pick-up time 3.5 hours before departure, they arranged the car for the time our flight was actually taking off.
The rooms are dated and badly need renovation, and the staff need better training. This hotel is doing a big disservice to the Peninsula brand. I’d recommend the Shangri-La across the street instead.
