Awesome staff!
If you are coming to Oslob to swim with the whale sharks and you have a car or a motorbike, there is absolutely no reason to stay right next to the whale shark watching area.
I first checked the hotels close to the whale shark bus stop and the main watching point, and they were much more expensive while the quality was significantly worse.
Instead, I stayed at this place about 15 minutes away by car, and it turned out to be a much better decision.
The room is clean, the interior is nice and well maintained, and overall the place looks far better than many of the accommodations directly near the whale shark area.
But the real highlight is the staff, especially Maria.
Maria was incredibly kind and helpful. She took the time to explain everything about how the whale shark registration works in the morning and even drew a detailed map showing exactly where to go and what to do. When you are travelling alone and organizing everything yourself, this kind of help makes a huge difference.
The rest of the staff were also very welcoming during check-in, and they even managed to prepare food for me just before the kitchen was about to close, which I really appreciated after a long day of driving.
So overall:
— Much better value for money than staying near the whale shark watching area
— Clean rooms and nice interior
— Only about 15 minutes drive to the whale sharks
— Exceptionally kind and helpful staff, especially Maria

I had an excellent stay at Down South 118 hotel, and I would especially like to highlight the exceptional quality of the staff. A huge thank you to Riza, Cheva, Aimiez, Marie, and Militon (also known as Tonton, incata siya!) for their warm welcome.
They are all incredibly attentive, always smiling, and constantly taking great care of their guests. Their kindness and professionalism truly make a difference and make the stay even more enjoyable.
The hotel also boasts a magnificent view, which makes the experience even more memorable. In addition, the direct access to the sea is a real asset, with the opportunity to observe sea turtles in their natural environment — a truly magical moment!
It is a real pleasure to be welcomed by such a dedicated team. I highly recommend this hotel, especially thanks to its remarkable staff!

Great and relaxing experience.
Our room was spacious and very clean, bed was very comfy, overlooking the ocean, friendly staff, resto food was on point.

Everything you need to relax without worries
We stayed three nights to see whale sharks, turtles and the inevitable waterfalls.
Hotel in marine shabby style, very nice, large rooms, bathroom that needs to be modernized, shower that did not work properly but above all absence of cotton sheet, only a synthetic cover was provided.
Air conditioner that looked like a jet taking off, but we were so tired that nothing would stop us from sleeping.
The proposed excursions have prices in line with the market, but be careful with the timing because we missed the boat to the reef because the first tour in the morning has been extended. The hotel kindly refunded the difference.
Staff very attentive and present. Good food even if almost half of the offer on the menu is not available.
Do not miss the Thai massage at an incredible price, perhaps the best of my life!
