Truly awesome experience in paradise

My wife and I have just returned from 11 days at the Sunset Cove Resort in Romblon and loved it.
The resort is on the island of Alad, a 30 minute boat ride from Romblon town. The island is tiny, with a couple of schools, a couple of churches and a few sari sari shops. The resort is set behind a beautiful beach.
We went to Romblon for diving. Between us we have over 1300 dives all over the world and we went for Romblon's famous macro diving. It surpassed our expectations, which when you consider we each have over 200 dives in the Lembeh Straits takes some doing!! The waters around Romblon and nearby islands are pristine; there is no garbage on the dives and some of the best beaches in the world are a 20 minute boat ride away, and have very few people on them. There are few divers; we never had to share a dive site with another boat so you get a lot of time with very rare creatures. If you want to spend 30 minutes getting the perfect shot of a pygmy seahorse, sure no problem, and they have MUCH rarer creatures than that. The dive guides and boat crew were excellent, as well as being great spotters. Our guide Spencer was great at finding critters we had never seen before, and was fantastic at helping us to get brilliant photos.
The resort itself is spacious, with a decent sized swimming pool. The food was good and tasty, at no point did we get bored. All the rooms available in the resort are of a good size with plenty of storage space and all overlook the sea. We stayed in a ground floor villa with a large veranda. There is a space on the ground floor for sorting out cameras
The staff, whilst we were there, was led by Chrys (one of the owner's brother) and his lovely wife Joyce. They could not do enough to help with all aspects of our trip. They assisted with all the transport to/from Manila which was pretty intimidating - a 2 hour drive to the overnight ferry and another boat ride to the resort, but we shouldn't have worried. Everything went to plan. All of the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.
A trip around Romblon town is a worthwhile excursion to see the view from the fort and how the marble for which Romblon is famous is processed.
Would we go back? Absolutely, and that is saying something, given that we traveled for 60 hours from the UK to get there.

Ideal get away dive resort

I had a great time here within the happy owners family atmosphere.
The food was excellent with the cook Chris preparing special dishes within reason /availability.
Diving was macro but some fish protected areas.
Dive guide Spencer's ability to spot the small stuff was incredible.
It cost me about a hundred pounds a day all in as a solo diver and I can drink a few beers in the evening.
In summary a great place to dive and unwind.
Thanks to Ronnie and Charo for being such lovely hosts
