Beautifully calm relaxing stay

We had a wonderful stay at this calm, beautifully run hotel.
Every member of staff were helpful, friendly, professional and knowledgeable.
The hotel has wonderful gardens growing food that is used in their kitchen. Great choices for breakfast and a fabulous evening meal. You can enjoy 3 courses if you wish for 29 euros.
The hotel has a very thoughtful environmental attitude and the owner is often discretly present,chatting amongst the guests.
The views are amazing, we had a great stay here.

Great hiking hotel

For the second time, we stayed at Quinta Alegre; this time we had a room with a garden view facing west. We booked the hiking week with 5 additional days. The rooms are sufficiently large, very clean, and equipped with shutters. Equipped with fly screens. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet and the dinner (served at the table) are excellent. The hotel's sustainability concept, with electric cars for rent and its own power and water supply, is commendable. As a location for a hiking vacation, the hotel is ideally suited.

Beautifully located and sustainably managed hotel, specifically geared towards hikers.

A very good hotel in a good location on a large property, which also aims for sustainability. Super friendly staff, excellent cuisine, and the offered hiking packages as well as a pool leave nothing to be desired.

Sufficiently spacious rooms with garden or sea view.
Activities nearby:
Excursions from the hotel and hiking packages are offered.
Food and drinks:
Very diverse food of excellent quality. The ingredients are often harvested from the garden.

Nice hiking hotel

We had booked the package hiking week and enjoyed it very much that we did not have to worry about anything. The hiking guides were nice and we learned a lot about the island, the people and nature. It was nice that sometimes the tour was changed a bit so we were away from the crowds. The picnic package from the hotel was rich, even including water and cake. In the hotel we had a room in the main house (highly recommended!) where we would have liked more storage facilities for damp laundry, towels etc. At dinner a salad buffet would be great, at the breakfast buffet we just didn't like the coffee - the selection was good. The garden is beautiful with large Strelitzia bushes and a beautiful pool - there are ample sunbeds. Especially the very friendly staff I would like to highlight. As a starting point for hiking, the hotel is ideal - if you want to experience Funchal, you should choose a hotel that is closer, because the bus ride there is cumbersome.

Quinta Alegre ... just fine!

Quinta Alegre ... arrive and feel good! We loved being there, enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere and the good food. Even on full-day hikes we were spoiled by salads, breads and cakes - and that still taking into account ecological points (salad in easily sealable & of course reusable bowls and much more). Tips and support for excursions were given as a matter of course and in a friendly atmosphere. If the path leads us back to Madeira, we will gladly come back!
