Great place for solo travellers!

I had a great experience at Anchor House. The host(s) were highly responsive, and very warm and welcoming on my arrival. They told me everything I needed to know, and offered suggestions on places to visit while in the area. The room was clean, cosy and quiet. The location felt safe, and I had no issues walking alone at night as a young woman, with nearby transport links and a café next door.
It is a hostel, so you will be staying close to others and sharing a bathroom - however I booked a private room and had no issues at all with noise. I did encounter a few ants in the room, but it's hard to avoid given the extremely hot weather - and I may have unknowingly exacerbated the issue myself. However, once I brought this to the attention of Marcos, he was very quick to arrange a cleaning of the room at no extra cost to me. Overall it was a great, affordable place to stay for a couple nights during my first solo visit to Portugal. I hope to be back!

Not again!

It was not clean, the owner was a little bit strange ( throwing away food without asking, playing too loud music at night). The Wifi did not work and overall not a satisfying experience for 40euros a bed. Would also not recommend for solo female travellers. If you can, I would sleep somewhere else tbh.
