A beautiful and welcoming place to stay in Ponta Delgada for our honeymoon! The staff were absolutely the best - so kind and helpful. The morning breakfasts they prepared were delicious and included local fresh food! We couldn’t recommend Hostel Matriz 55 more !

Matriz 55 is an absolute bargain with value for money.

We are very happy for staying for 10 days at Matriz 55 now recently in June-July.
This place is unique by very central location, excellent room, great breakfast and most of all warm and helpful hosts. Susan and Pedro were extremely kind. The rooms are cleaned, new towels and arranged every day. We had a room with terrasse.
At Matrix 55 you will stay for low cost at what in fact is a Boutique Hotel and you will not be disappointed!
We hope to come back another time.

Six wonderful days in Ponta Delgada

We stayed with Susana and Pedro at Matriz 55 for six days. This was our first visit to the Açores. Our room was beautiful, clean and conveniently located in the center of Ponta Delgada. The included breakfast was wonderful with all local foods including Pineapple and melon, baked goods, local cheese. Pedro and Susana were very helpful, recommending the best places to eat for vegetarians and places to visit on the islands. We our very grateful to have had the opportunity to stay at Matriz 55. We’ll definitely be back.

For the price one pays to stay here I wish the breakfast was a bit more than just fruit bread cheese and yogurt! But other than that the place in itself is fantastic!

This was our first trip to San Miguel and to Hostel Matriz 55. We had a wonderful stay there and Pedro and Susana were excellent hosts! They were very helpful with suggestions of restaurants etc.and made us feel right at home. The patio on the top floor had the best views.
We would definitely stay here again when we return to San Miguel!
