Extremely good value

We travelled to the county of Maramures with a Romanian friend of ours and his girlfriend. They made all the arrangements for us and found this guest house through Booking.com. It has ten rooms, all en suite and I think most have balconies. It is a fairly new build and is extremely well maintained and clean. There is a restaurant which serves adequate food but,as is often the case in Romania, no attention is paid to serving it hot.The view from our balcony what spectacular but the immediate surroundings aren't very nice being given over to sawmills and automotive businesses. The staff were very good but little English is spoken. However the menus are in English. It's a good base for sightseeing but the roads are truly appalling. I'll never complain about potholes in the UK again. I cannot fault the prices. £40 pounds for a meal for 6. The rooms (double) £17 a night. Breakfast £2 to £4 pounds. The owner has a collection of national folk costumes which you can borrow to take photos. The area is stunningly beautiful and is popular with skiers in the winter. There is plenty to discover within driving distance. Fly to Cluj Napoca and hire a car if you're brave enough to drive there.

Bon établissement dans un environnement moyen. Quelques réserve sur le service du petit déjeuner

Nous y sommes arrivés à la suite d'une défaillance de B...g qui nous avait confirmé une réservation dans un hôtel fermé à Moisei. La Pensiune Royal appartient au même propriétaire, et par chance, sa belle fille était sur le parking de l'hôtel fermé.
Hotel agréable, chambres grandes et bien équipées, nous avons dîné et petit déjeuné à l'hôtel. Bonne prestation.
Un bémol. Nous avions prévu de petit déjeuner à 7H30, heure normale d'ouverture. Personne, à la surprise du personnel d'entretien. Dans ce genre d'hôtel, il n'y a pas de réception. On attend assis sur les marches de l'escalier, ou dehors, mais il faisait froid. Sinon, il faut remonter dans sa chambre et redescendre de temps en temps pour voir, ça devient vite lassant. Nous avions eu exactement la même mésaventure à Voronets Residence.
La personne s'est pointée avec une bonne demi heure de retard, sans un mot d'excuse.
Je pense que nous y reviendrions quand même, mais pas pour plus d'une nuit, à cause de l'environnement.
