Monopoly Hotel is the place to stay

The best hotel experience we had in this area near the Otopeni Airport. Quiet, big and cozy rooms, the staff is very helpful and so kind.
Definitely the best option for a short stay in Otopeni.
It’s our second time here and we will come back for sure in the future.

Bad experience at Monopoly Hotel

I stayed with my daughter for 1 night on July 16, 2026 in room 25.
I'm really sorry I didn't have this review before so it would save me from staying at this hotel.
We had a flight connection the next day and wanted a close hotel to the airport. The main problem is that this hotel in a remote location, far from everything, also far from the airport and located in residential area. There is nothing around it.
No restaurants, no supermarket - nothing. No taxi. We had to wait for a taxi around 20 min, and it takes abouut 20 min to the airport. 30 min to old town. The costs of the taxi should be taken in consideration when reserving the hotel.
Also - for the taxi driver it is difficult to access the hotel.
I share my mistake so maybe it will help someone else.
The rest is about the room , the staff and the restaurant.
Night time.
** One hour after going to sleep the air conditioner stopped working. It broke down.
** No phone in the room to contact reception.
** Breakfast is not included and costs 50 ron per person but if you have lactose intolarance there is no alternative milk of any kind. (Forget abour a cappucino with almond milk).
When we arrived, I asked the day reception clerk if tap water is drinkable. He said is not reccomended and took me to a machine to buy small bottle of water that with 7 RON.
** No complimantary water bottles in the room.
The night clerk gave us a 2 liter bottle of water.
** We had to ask for a toothbrush and slippers, even though the reception clerk knew we hadn't received our luggage.
He said that they don't put disposable slippers in the room because people just take them. Isn't that the purpose?
** No individual soap bars in the bathroom.
** The shower didn't drain properly. The water accumulated to my ankles.
** Nowhere to hang a towel in the bathroom.
** The bed was hard as a board.
** The light kept flickering on and off.
And yes - the room was clean.

It's OK for the price

Overall, the hotel was good and very clean. The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming, especially the gentleman working in the evening, who was very kind and attentive.
However, the location is quite isolated, and the hotel is not as close to the airport as expected. The drive took around 15 minutes, and there was no airport shuttle available, so a taxi or other transport was necessary.
The shower worked, but the drainage was very poor. While showering, the water level rose to around 10 cm and remained standing in the shower tray.
The air conditioning also stopped working in the middle of the night. We were too exhausted to get up and ask to change rooms, so we had to spend the rest of the night in very uncomfortable heat.
The mattress was also extremely firm, which may not suit everyone.
In general, it is a clean and pleasant hotel with very good staff, but the isolated location and maintenance issues made our stay less comfortable than expected.

Perfect hotel close to the airport

Spotlessly clean and spacious triple room and bathroom, strong wi-fi signal, comfy beds, very kind and helpful staff (particularly Gabriel, the night receptionist who could not go farther to help us and satisfy our needs). The restaurant does not work for dinner but you can order delivery (Gabriel will assist you) that comes really fast and you can eat your food either in your room or at the hotel's restaurant (the receptionist will give you cutlery).
The breakfast is not a buffet but I may say it is very good and gives you a robust start of the day. "Monopoly" is the perfect hotel to relax before and after a flight from and to Bucharest. It is in a quiet residential area, away from downtown and you'd better have a car.
We will surely come back to Monopoly. Recommended!

Nice finishes in spacious room and helpful staff

Plenty of free parking in the gravel lot out front. Check in was easy thanks to English speaking staff. The room was spacious and the bathroom was huge. Had a very nice shower with plenty of hot water and lots of room to move around. The room air conditioner had some trouble cooling down the room quickly but eventually got there. The tv was large and worked but no English channels. The bed was comfortable except for the extra starchy sheets. I had a corner room so it was quiet. The hotel stored my luggage for a week while I traveled around Romania. 5 stars for their helpfulness.
