Good value for money.Safe parking.Good restaurants within walking distance.

I spent two nights in this family run hotel.The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is located two minutes walk from the local market which sells everything from a needle to an anchor.No meals available but the staff recommended an excellent restaurant within 5 minutes walk of the hotel.
The furniture is "oldy worldy" but the bed was clean and comfortable.Safe parking in a gated area on the premises.

A Warm Welcome.

We had intended to stay at another hotel in Calafat, but when we arrived they were not interested in taking our booking. The lady we spoke to at that hotel, did not want to help us even with the most basic of requests.
Thankfully a gentleman nearby offered to assist. He rang the nearby and more conveniently located Casa Italia for us. At very short notice they took our booking and immediately made us feel welcome. Such a contrast to the other hotel.
Casa Italia is a family run hotel and they quickly offered to provide us with a very enjoyable evening meal, which was appreciated. In particular the gentleman on front desk went out of his way to help us and give us some local recommendations of places to see.
Our rooms were clean but did have a few issues around electrics and the like. Added to this the wi-fi link would not work as we would have hoped. As this is early season, hopefully these issues will be addressed.

dilapidated

Normal rates at 80 RON but shower was very dirty with mold on ceilings. Nice location but dilapidated building. Staff was friendly but the generall dirtiness was unappealing. Beds looked clean but mattresses sagged considerably making for poor sleep.

Ruhiger Aufenthalt in origineller Unterkunft

Es war nur ein kurzer Aufenthalt, den ich in der Casa Italia in Calafat hatte, da mein Zug Richtung Westen schon um 3 Uhr morgens fuhr.
Er verlief aber recht entspannt, nachdem ich, angekommen im Hotel, jemanden für den Check-in gefunden hatte.
Der geräumige Eingangsbereich des Hotels ist nett dekoriert und macht, auch wenn vllt. länger nicht renoviert, einen einladenden Eindruck.
Mein Zimmer hatte eine ungewöhnliche Aufteilung mit zweigeteiltem Bad und war eher klein, die farbenfrohe Gestaltung sorgte aber für eine freundliche Atmosphäre. Ich konnte gut schlafen und ging mit einem positiven Eindruck und ohne wesentliche Kritikpunkte.
