Amazing 2 weeks at Green Fig

We have just returned from a 2 week stay in Green Fig Resort - and we had a perfect holiday. Yes there were a few steps from our room to the restaurant but to be honest we didnt find it too much of an issue. The walk into Soufriere is quite steep coming back but again just take your time and enjoy the view - you are on holiday after all! There is a free shuttle bus if you cant manage the walk but we never used it. Our room was lovely and the view was amazing, the restaurant was again lovely with stunning views and delicious food. We also renewed our vows at the resort and the staff went above and beyond making our day super special (especially as we decided to do it very last minute) Everything was decorated beautifully, they sorted everything for us, we had champagne and canapés and the chef sorted us a lovely Coconut cake. Even fresh flowers were given to us and when we went back to our room it was decorated with loads of balloons, petals, lights and flowers- was just beautiful. The staff are amazing and super friendly and especially want to mention Rocana, Hartley, Lee, Tasha and Misha who put up with us every day. We sorted most of our trips through reception and nothing was too much trouble and we were lucky enough to be there for Soufriere Carnival which we absolutely loved (even the very early start ) our personal experience of Green Fig was brilliant and we want to thank everyone working there for making our first visit to St Lucia one of the best holidays we've ever had. I cant really understand the latest review on here about rancid food etc and moaning about the steps - seemed a very unfair review to me and I had the seafood a few times and it was delicious - as for the steps- it clearly states that there are steps and the hotel is built on the edge of a rainforest on the side of a hill - in my opinion yhink it was a very unfair review.

Disasters experience, Beware of Staff & jagged stairs

**DISASTROUS EXPERIENCE — I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GREEN FIG RESORT**
Our stay at Green Fig Resort was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.
Dinner was appalling. We were served shellfish that smelled rancid as it came from the kitchen, yet the server actually encouraged us to try it. We became ill and ultimately sought hospital care. The $40 chicken dinner was so dry it was like chicken jerky served with rice — completely unacceptable for a property presenting itself as a resort.
The problems started before we even reached our room. There was no reasonable place to unload luggage, followed by roughly 100 steep, jagged and uneven stairs to our room. I booked a resort because I expected to enjoy the pool, bar, restaurant and property. Instead, the entire experience was stressful and unpleasant.
When I repeatedly asked through WhatsApp about their refund policy, I could not get a straight answer. After asking multiple times, I returned around 9:30 PM to discover my key no longer worked and my belongings had been packed up and left in the lobby. My passport was still locked in the room safe, and my medication was missing from my belongings. Thankfully, my CPAP machine was not damaged.
I was essentially displaced late at night in an area where transportation is extremely limited. Fortunately, a friend had an Airbnb nearby where I could stay. Otherwise, I genuinely do not know what I would have done.
This was not the relaxing resort experience I paid for. Between the food, safety concerns, treatment by staff, handling of my personal belongings and complete lack of customer care, this stay was an absolute disaster.
**I would never stay at Green Fig Resort again and strongly recommend that travelers carefully consider these issues before booking

Hotel response

In summary: You asked about a refund in your very first complaint. By the following afternoon, after repeated refund requests and ultimately threatening police involvement, we responded within 11 minutes, waived ALL accommodation charges, ended the stay and told you your belongings would be prepared at Reception. You READ that message approximately six hours before returning.
Unfortunately, your review now presents a very different version of what followed.
Your first complaint was sent to Reception at 9:25 PM, after dinner service had ended. It included complaints about your meal, the stairs and a request for our “refund or compensation policy.” Reception responded at 9:36 PM, removed the disputed food from your bill and advised that our F&B Manager would meet with you the following morning.
He did. Despite your review suggesting management was unavailable, you were specifically told at 10:33 AM that the manager was awaiting you, and your own 11:35 AM message confirms that you subsequently spoke with him. During that conversation, the food issue was quickly dismissed as no longer particularly important and the focus became obtaining a refund for your stay.
You then left the resort after telling our team you were going into town for beauty treatments and remained away essentially the entire day.
While away, you continued requesting a refund through WhatsApp. At 3:45 PM, you threatened police involvement if we did not respond within your three hour deadline. This followed an earlier interaction that morning in which you had asked our staff whether they “knew who you were” and represented yourself as an important and connected travel journalist.
We responded through the same WhatsApp conversation at 3:56 PM, just 11 minutes after your police ultimatum. We explained that the situation had gone beyond what we could reasonably expect our staff to tolerate and that we believed it best to part ways. Despite an early departure ordinarily remaining chargeable, we waived ALL accommodation charges and explicitly told you that your belongings would be prepared at Reception.
You READ that message that afternoon, and then ceased all communication thereafter.
Approximately six hours later, you returned appearing intoxicated, ignored our team and proceeded toward your room. Your belongings had been prepared exactly as we had told you they would be. Naturally, we had not accessed your locked safe. Security escorted you back to the room so you could personally retrieve your passport and other belongings and check the room. No medication was subsequently found.
Your statement that you were unexpectedly “displaced late at night” is therefore difficult to reconcile with what actually occurred. You had known for approximately six hours that the stay was ending. We offered to arrange transportation, which you declined because you told us your taxi was already organized and you were going to your friend's accommodation directly below the resort.
During your departure, you also told our F&B Manager that you worked for Tripadvisor and that we would “be sorry.”
The police subsequently attended, were shown the communications and, after reviewing the circumstances, concluded that parting ways was the best outcome.
There are also significant inconsistencies in the public allegations surrounding the food. Your review states that “we became ill and ultimately sought hospital care.” Your friend's Google review describes “rotten” and “poisonous” food, yet says the following day was spent at the beach, mud baths and dinner at Jade Mountain, while elsewhere stating that YOU spent the day at the hospital. At the time, you had told our staff you were leaving for beauty treatments.
These are extremely serious food safety allegations. We categorically reject the claim that we served “rancid,” “rotten” or “poisonous” food, and when allegations this serious are made publicly, the accounts should at least be consistent.
There are other easily verifiable discrepancies. You describe “roughly 100” stairs to your room. There are approximately 35. You describe unexpectedly finding yourself locked out, despite having READ hours earlier that your stay was ending and your belongings would be prepared. You describe being displaced with limited transportation, despite declining our offer of transportation because arrangements to your friend's accommodation immediately below the resort were already in place.
Why embellish these events? You already received what you wanted.
All accommodation charges were waived and your entire deposit was refunded. You suffered no financial loss from the stay. We, meanwhile, are left with two damaging public reviews arising from the same incident containing serious claims that we strongly dispute and, in several instances, that conflict with the documented record or with each other.
We have retained the complete timestamped correspondence and stand fully behind our staff and our decision to end the stay after treatment that went well beyond what hospitality employees should reasonably be expected to accept.
**Given everything that transpired, we strongly recommend that fellow hoteliers carefully consider this experience should they ever have the opportunity to host you.**

Just Don’t

I’m just going to let the photos speak. There are so many things I could say, but they will be disputed by the manager so there’s no point. We moved at our own expense as soon as we could.

We enjoyed our stay at The Green Fig. The views were amazing especially from the restaurant and main swimming pool. There are a lot of stairs around the resort although we were prepared for that and it didn't cause us any issues. It is very well located and only a short walk into Soufriere. Staff are friendly and the rooms were cleaned and restocked every day. We had a kettle, coffee machine and small fridge which allowed us to keep water cold and have drinks/snacks in the room. We had a couple of early excursions and were able to pre-book breakfast boxes to eat. The continental breakfast was a bit hit and miss with my family. Some days there was a good selection although some days there were limited options. The fresh fruit was always good. There are 3 pools; they are all a decent size although quite shallow for swimming. The room was very comfortable and pretty quiet considering the distance to the town. We all slept well each night. There was evening entertainment on some nights.

The hotel was overpriced and the room was not in good condition. The shower took a long time to figure out and it was difficult to navigate the hotel up and down the stairs, with poor signage. I do not recommend this hotel.
