Good value for money with stunning views

The Hotel L'Océan is situated at the northern end of La Digue, just above the main coastal road and it probably offers the most stunning views you can get on this island! The rooms are pretty big with balcony and ocean view. You absolutely get good value for money compared to other hotels. The manager was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was the best of the 5 hotels we stayed at on the Seychelles.
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel L' Ocean.
If you rent a bike on arrival (150 SCR p. person/day) you have lots of Restaurants, shops or supermarkets nearby. There is a beautiful small beach ("Anse Patate") just around the corner. And we found a cosy Bar at the beach "Anse Severe", called "Island Best Bar", where you get delicious milk shakes & fresh juices at a much lower price than anywhere else on La Digue. It's run by an extremely friendly family.
Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was officially closed, but it was open to the guests for breakfast and we enjoyed the amazing view every morning. There was actually nothing to complain about.and can highly recommend this place.

Avoid this place

1/5 – Extremely Poor Value for Money
The Ocean may market itself as a hotel, but in reality it feels more like a property that has not seen meaningful investment for many years. The infrastructure is severely outdated and would not come close to meeting typical Western hospitality standards. Perhaps some guests may consider this acceptable by lower regional standards, but it certainly does not justify the rates being charged.
The photographs speak for themselves: exposed and improvised electrical installations, aging network equipment hanging on walls, damaged flooring, corroded air-conditioning units, poorly maintained plumbing, and visible signs of neglect throughout the property.
To reach our room we had to climb 54 steps, a significant inconvenience that is never properly highlighted during booking. The stairways were often decorated with a mixture of dead and living cockroaches, which hardly contributes to a pleasant holiday atmosphere.
Luxury can be a matter of taste. Hospitality is not.
Unfortunately, the greatest disappointment was not the aging facilities but the attitude of the staff. A warm welcome costs nothing, yet we encountered an atmosphere that felt indifferent, unhelpful, and at times outright unfriendly.
I have stayed in modest guesthouses that offered far better service and cleanliness than this hotel. At The Ocean, I genuinely struggled to identify a single aspect that met expectations.
Rating: 1/5
Outdated facilities, poor maintenance, unpleasant access, and remarkably poor hospitality. I would not return and cannot recommend it.

Amazing view!

The host, Sachin, is super friendly and above all takes great care of his customers! Evening meals are delicious and plentiful! Even though the hotel is a little dated, the view and location are perfect! I really recommend it! Christina.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL AT ALL, EVEN FOR CONSIDERATION, THE RATING IS PROBABLY PURCHASED.

The hotel is terrible, but in addition to the terrible technical condition of the rooms, the surrounding area, but also the aggressively boorish staff. Initially, we were placed in a room that we had not booked; it was much smaller and under the very roof and with a non-working air conditioner and a drain in the shower. To our indignation, they gave us our room, which we booked with the impression that they were doing us a favor. In addition to the uncomfortable furniture, the entire floor in the restaurant is covered in flying fox feces, and no one cleaned this during the 4 days we were there. The average rating on all aggregators like Booking.com is 8.1, this is a completely false rating, since such a barn cannot have such a rating. Look at the photo and draw your own conclusion. The price-quality ratio is simply beyond words! They also deceived us about dinner, we agreed on BBQ fish, but they brought us something incomprehensible, pieces of fish in tomato sauce and not very pleasant smelling. The humanity of these people is also evidenced by the fact that three cats are running around the territory, so hungry that they ate ordinary rice (I had to buy them fish the next day), apparently the staff does not feed them at all. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL AT ALL, EVEN FOR CONSIDERATION, THE RATING IS PROBABLY PURCHASED.
