A wonderful stay — highly recommend!
Hotel Modena exceeded all my expectations. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional — always ready to help with a smile. The breakfast buffet was a real highlight: plenty of variety and freshly replenished every morning. The location is perfect, just steps away from great restaurants and local attractions. Fantastic value for money. I will definitely be coming back!

Short and painful facts for future guests:
Check-out is at 10:00 AM. Want to leave at 11:00 or later? They charge €10 per hour. It feels like a penalty, not hospitality.
Breakfast costs €10 — don’t waste your money. It’s disgusting. Low quality, miserable selection, and unsafe hygiene. You’ll regret every bite.
Want to use the facility (sauna, etc.)? €50–70. Nothing is included. Everything is a paid add-on trap.
My stay at Hotel Modena was one of the worst hotel experiences of my life.
The breakfast was a complete scam. The food was vile, poorly prepared, tasteless, and served in questionable conditions. Hygiene was clearly ignored. The buffet looked depressing, but tasting it was a different level of pain. €10 for this? No thanks — they should pay guests to eat that.
Service was bottom-tier. Staff were rude, unwilling to help, and acted like guests were a disturbance. No standards, no courtesy, no competence.
The location is awful. Far from the city, inconvenient to reach anything useful, and falsely marketed as acceptable. If your goal is to enjoy Bratislava or even move around comfortably — forget it.
This hotel is not just bad — it’s below minimum viable hotel standard.

Regarding the breakfast and restaurant staff: The restaurant section is currently going through management changes. We genuinely apologize if the quality of the food and the service in the restaurant did not meet expectations. We are taking this feedback seriously to improve that specific area.
However, regarding the rest of your points, we must set the record straight for future guests reading this:
• Wellness: It is clearly stated on all our booking channels and platforms that our wellness is a PRIVATE facility. You are not paying for a shared public pool; the fee is for renting the entire spa space exclusively for yourself. It is not a "trap," it is a premium private service.
• Late Check-out: Our standard check-out is at 10:00 AM. Charging a fee for late check-out is a standard practice across the global hotel industry, not a punishment.
• Location: We are located about 10 minutes from the historical center, with very quick access to the highway and the airport. We stand firmly behind our location, as it is a major benefit for guests who want to avoid heavy city traffic while staying well-connected.
• Reception Staff: While we regret your experience in the restaurant, we proudly stand behind our hotel reception team, who consistently provide professional and helpful service.

Just a small enough
Positive:
Good accessibility to old town, bus station nearby. Bus 70 to end then you are right in old town.
Beds and room reasonable, there are only rooms on the 6th floor rest is in use by business relations.
Breakfast not excessive but sufficient
Cleaning well, towels change every 2 days.
Negative :
Hotel was completely in the docks, not mentioned on their own site or when booking. Sleeping in wasn't one of them, given the noise. You have to go through a gate (scan with your hotel card to get to the elevator or room. Not every receptionist spoke English or German, only very good Slovak.
View of a refinery that regularly got rid of a smell.
Balcony is tiny, could just with 2 / slim / women on it.
Pillows of the beds are really worthless, mattresses are okay.
1 outlet next to the bed, the other behind the bed, not so convenient.
Given price quality: just enough. Too bad that nowhere was mentioned that there was a major renovation going on.
