Nice hotel
Inspent just one late spring night in the hotel with an excellent location right next to tje Štrbské pleso. Despite this fact I visited its SPA, which was very good, so as had a chance to enjoy buffets within the hotel’s board. Room was comfortable, quite spacey and the wi-fi worked well. aparking for hotel guests was for free. Can easily recommend to anyone looking for comfy hotel in High Tatras.

⭐️ Aftertaste of a 4-star price with 2-star delivery
Disappointing and stuck in the past—not worth the premium price.
We stayed in a suite at £230 a night (B&B), and to be frank, it was incredibly disappointing and basic. By modern standards, this hotel feels very "backward."
The Room & Housekeeping:
For a suite, the room lacked even the most fundamental amenities you would expect. There were no tea or coffee-making facilities (not even a kettle), reception staff were unable to offer any help with this and said all rooms the same. Only one towel provided for 2 guests, and no air conditioning or fans. With outside temperatures reaching 26°C, the room became unbearably hot & stuffy. To make matters worse, housekeeping was minimal; the beds were made, but trash was never emptied and towels weren't replaced. Beds & quilts felt cheap and lacking any luxury.
Dining & Service:
Breakfast was equally poor. The selection was highly limited, the orange and apple juices were visibly watered down, and the croissants were stale. No black tea available. When interacting with the reception staff, we found them to be neither overly friendly nor particularly helpful.
We didn’t use the ‘wellness area as full of children and it didn’t look to be a relaxing space or appealing.
The Verdict:
This was one of three hotels we stayed at during a 14-day vacation travelling across Poland, Slovakia, and Czechia. Sadly, Hotel Patria was well below the standard of the others, despite being the most expensive by far.

Good location, bad service and experience.
Location is great. Rooms do not have basic toiletries, no kettle. Too many box-type storage in the room, which has no utility value. The restaurant staff are very rude. Before you call them, they come and pull away your plate, assuming you have completed. They never say excuse me or respond to thanks. Maybe they are underpaid or working for free. Not expected in a 4-star hotel. The parking outside is free. Underground parking is expensive. 30 Euros per day, if I remember it right.

Beautiful location, but disappointing service
We stayed here at the end of October, and honestly, we expected much more from this hotel in the Tatras, which is an icon of Štrbské Pleso. Hotel Patria certainly has a beautiful location, stunning views, and at first glance looks really nice, but unfortunately, that was largely where the positives ended for us.
Even the basic things that should be standard in a 4* hotel were missing. There was no coffee or tea set in the room – something that is a standard even in lower-category hotels today. Similarly, although the hotel proudly advertises exceptional wellness on its website, the room did not include body lotion or toiletries, which other Tatras hotels now provide as standard.
Dinner included in the half-board package is a buffet priced at €30 per person and is served only from 18:00 to 20:00. This is unusual for a 4* hotel and, at this price, quite surprising. In most hotels, dinner is served at least until 21:00, allowing guests to enjoy wellness first and then sit down for a relaxed gastronomic experience. Here? Quite the opposite.
At check-in, the receptionist told us that we should hurry for dinner, literally saying, “it works typically like in Slovakia, first come, first served,” and that it supposedly doesn’t make sense to come later because the food is not replenished. In other words – if you spend a long time in the wellness area, much may not be left for you at €30 per person. Remarks like this from the reception about their own hotel service are incredibly unprofessional and unacceptable in a 4* hotel.
The idea that a romantic hotel dinner could turn into a scramble at the buffet tables discouraged us, and based on this “honest advice” from the receptionist, we decided to cancel the half-board. Spending time in wellness stressed out to ensure some food remains for you is exactly the last thing you want on vacation. We then opted for an à la carte dinner available until 21:30, which ultimately turned out to be a good choice. However, the cancellation of the half-board was again communicated by the reception in a very unprofessional and unfortunate way, which eventually led to an unpleasant situation at check-out, as the final accommodation price differed from our reservation. This was only remedied by the manager, who, unlike the receptionist, remained calm, polite, and courteous, but the ruined impression could not be undone.
Another issue – some waiters and waitresses at breakfast appeared genuinely irritated, giving the impression that they were bothered by their job. This also did not contribute to a pleasant atmosphere.
To not be entirely negative – I must praise the staff at the lobby bar, who were kind, helpful, and professional; it was evident that they genuinely cared about the guests. The wellness area itself is also really excellent and varied.
In summary, a beautiful hotel in a stunning location, but in terms of some services and dining organization, it falls short of 4* standards in the Tatras. It has potential, but in its current state, we would not return.

Restaurant
Outdoor restaurant badly understaffed with one waitress serving and a manager standing by doing absolutely nothing. When confronted she was rude just pointing fingers not even speaking to us. Zero people's skill. Should not be in the job at all 10 out 10 to waitress for hard work and putting up with that mess. We had to leave without food as waited already for ages.
