Great Self-Catering Unit in Dullstroom

Lovely, practical, spotlessly clean unit that is perfectly located in the town. It has everything one might need for self catering. It's within walking distance to everything Dullstroom has to offer. Although it's on the main road, surprisingly, the traffic from the road sounds "distant" and is therefore not at all disturbing. Excellent value for money and great service from the owners/ managers. Highly recommended.

Passing through

We have stayed in AuldStone House a couple of times passing through Dullstroom on our way home. We have found the place extremely comfortable. The rooms are big and roomy so there is plenty of space to spread yourselves. The gate is closed at night so your vehicle is safe .
We have generally arrived afer 5 and a plan has always been made for us to retrieve the keys. I recommend Auldstone house as a wonderful place to stay

Weekend getaway

The overall experience was good. We had a neat and well maintained room with good service from friendly staff. It’s centrally located with very easy access to amenities,we would definitely recommend it.

Accept booking and payment at 18h00 but refuse entry at 10h00

Really bad experience after a long day. Had to sleep over inDullstroom on short notice. Made a booking on route via Hotels.com. Booking was made, paid for and confirmed by Hotels.com at about 18h00. Arrived in Dullstroom just before 10h00 to find everything locked. Phoned number at entrance and was told that because I booked after 17h00 it is not possible to allow access to guest house.
How difficult can it be to inform Hotels.com, Expedia, etc of that arrangement? Note to that effect on website can also be helpful.
Not only a bad experience but also the additional burden to get a refund from Hotels.com.

Noisy

The room (number 5) was a bit dated and mismatched but there was nice underfloor heating and a decently sized kitchen. The room itself was also really spacious with a large, comfy king sized bed and the staff are friendly - this is where the positives end though unfortunately. The first problem was the extremely annoying and loud music from a nearby bar (tavern) with bass that is inescapable in the room, especially if you're expecting a quiet weekend away. The kitchen is semi equipped, could do with more cutlery, some of which was dirty upon arrival including some pans. There is also only a smallish bath, no shower. No fireplace either although that is communicated beforehand.
In closing, do not come here expecting a relaxing and quiet weekend away.
