Extremely Disappointing Sunday Lunch Buffet ~

We went to the Waves Restaurant for the Sunday Lunch Buffet, and unfortunately, the experience was terrible. From the service to the food. For a buffet, you would expect a good variety of fresh, appetising dishes. Sadly, that was not the case. The mixed vegetables looked as though they had been sitting there for two days. They looked so unappetising that nobody at our table, or those around us, was dishing them up. And that was the only vegetable option available. The beef stew was practically inedible. The meat was so incredibly chewy that you could not even cut it properly with a steak knife. The leg of lamb was dry, tasteless and extremely overcooked. In fact, even the chef carving the lamb struggled to cut through it, which says a lot about how overcooked it was. The only positive thing I can say is that the desserts were okay. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. A Sunday buffet should offer a reasonable variety of fresh, well-prepared food, especially considering what guests are paying for the experience. Unfortunately, the Waves Restaurant fell far short of expectations.

Lovely hotel

Well-presented rooms and restaurant food quality is very good. Breakfast was very well presented with a large variety of options.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 star) MY Stay at Blaauwberg Beach Hotel
My 4-night stay in a King Sea Facing Room at Blaauwberg Beach Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived until my departure, every member of the team made me feel genuinely welcomed and valued.
The reception team was consistently warm, professional, and accommodating, ensuring every interaction was pleasant and effortless. A special mention goes to Zodwa, who handled my weekend extension with remarkable professionalism. Not only did she arrange everything seamlessly, but she also ensured that I could remain in the same room, which greatly enhanced my overall experience. While the extension was being finalized, she thoughtfully took care of my luggage, making the transition completely stress-free.
To the humble gentlemen and courteous Porter (i just forgot the name), who assisted with my luggage upon arrival and departure. His friendly attitude and willingness to help immediately set the tone for what would become an outstanding stay.
The housekeeping team shined as well. Every day, they checked in to ensure I had everything I needed, always with warm smiles and genuine care. The thoughtful gestures of offering water and even chocolates demonstrated a level of hospitality that went above and beyond expectations. A special thank you to the entire cleaning team for their dedication, friendliness, and attention to detail.
The breathtaking sea views from my room, combined with the outstanding service from every department, made this a truly memorable experience. It's rare to find a hotel where every team member consistently delivers such genuine hospitality and care.
Thank you to Zodwa, Adele, the Porter, the reception team, and the housekeeping staff for making my stay so enjoyable. I highly recommend Blaauwberg Beach Hotel to anyone looking for excellent accommodation, spectacular ocean views, and world-class customer service. I look forward to returning soon. :)
