warm and cosy lodge

We, 4 persons, 3 German and 1 RSA driver arrived in the late afternoon for only 1 night. We got a very warm welcome of the lady who owns the lodge , she spoke also German and had her daughter and grand child as visitor. We had a very cosy time there, with a wonderful dinner which her lady cook has prepared (very delicious! ) while she carried her little baby on her back. The rooms were large and confortable, the breakfast, great! Next time when we come to this region we will stay 2 nights. I can recommend this lodge very much and would book it again

Calm and incredible view

Absolutely incredible view of the valley in a calm that only the sound of birds disturbs.
The bedding is quality, the meals are very good (we had the specialty: Spicey butter chicken) and finally the welcome is adorable.
Lots of activities to do around (notably hikes to Tegwaan less than 2 km away).
Relaxing stopover just before our return to JNB.

We only stayed a single night on the way to Johannesburg airport, but we enjoyed all of it. Wonderful room with fantastic views and a G/T on the terrace. Nice homecooked dinner and breakfast and overall just great service. We felt very welcome.
Only downside was that the mosquitoes were as happy to see us as Holger and Norma. Glad this is not a malaria area.

Loved it!

What a wonderful experience .. the views, the tranquility ..
I loved the fact that this place was authentic with all it's homely quirks.
Norma, you are a great Hostess, a great cook and I loved hearing your anecdotes!
Holger, thank you so much for advising us to visit the large waterfall (what an adventure!!) and for your adult ice-cream topping suggestion !!
Only regret is .. 1 night wasn't long enough!

Good Place to Unplug

The views (as the name suggests) are beautiful from Acra. Despite visiting in the winter, so the pool was a little too cold to jump in, it was still cozy to overlook the sunset/mountains on the terrace until the chill chased us indoors towards the fire. It was fairly quite while we visited, but it was nice to be abel to sit in the dining area long after we finished dinner and play a game undisturbed. The location is a little more isolated then some other places we’ve stayed though you can still fairly easily drive to some local areas to visit. The room we stayed in was spacious and led out onto the terrace with the view we loved, even if the room needed a little love. It was a good place for us to stay on our drive to Kruger from Joburg and if you want to stay a couple extra days there’s a binder with activities to do within the area (like zip lining) to keep you busy. Or you can relax and soak up the nature, up to you.
