Just wonderful

Authentic, very beautiful house and wonderful owner! Quiet and beautiful surroundings. Every detail in the house was so unique. We had such a nice breakfast that the owner prepared himself. Really enjoyed our stay here for one night.
It was an amazing and unforgettable experience!
Definitely recommend!

Charm and very attentive service

Our primary destination was Valencia, but we wanted to add a multi-day getaway to Catalonia. We selected this hotel after lots of online searching. Our list of considerations made this a challenging task:
-Close enough (including train accessibility) to allow a day or two in Barcelona without requiring paying Barcelona hotel prices and the challenge of driving and parking our rental car in the city;
-setting and charm of a small, more rural hotel;
-access to our other destinations of interest north of Barcelona: Costa Brava beaches and the city of Vic for a tour of a salchichón factory;
-affordability.
After literally hours of online searching, we were quite happy to find Hotel Masia Can Vive, as it seemed to meet all of our criteria.
What we didn't appreciate at that time were all of the other extras that would make our time there enjoyable, memorable and special.
First of all, the hotel is beautiful. We were told that it is the smallest hotel (in terms of number of rooms) in Catalonia. Yet there were always one or more employees on hand.
The staff, including Pep, Albert, and Llatzer, went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to help and accommodate us as situations arose. (As we were traveling with our two-year-old, situations definitely arose!)
-One evening we returned late after a long day of outings and weren't able to find an open store to buy milk for our toddler. Pep kindly filled our thermos.
-After outings we stopped several times at a nearby grocery store, and then would enjoy a light dinner at the hotel, either on the patio or in our room. The first time we did this, Pep saw us eating and made sure we had utensils and proper wine glasses.
-I have a back injury and I found the mattress was too soft for me. Though it was late in the evening, a cot was brought to our room.
-The staff was quite helpful with driving directions and recommendations. Our best meal while in Catalonia was the result of a tip from the hotel staff...and right next door at Ca Els Frares.
-One evening we were given a tour of some tunnels dug beneath the hotel.
By the time we left, after 4 staying four nights in the hotel, we felt like we were saying goodbye to friends.
