Total relaxation in a unique and inspiring natural location

We loved our 2 night stay. The hotel was fantastically remote, surrounded by native forest and almond trees, with the most stunning mountain views and the only sounds were natural. Vultures flew over and we heard ibex and deer nearby. The hotel was beautiful inside - like a traditional hunting lodge, with plenty of living rooms for reading and relaxation. The pool was a perfect temperature and the food, prepared by Luis and his wife, was of a very high standard. When we left a bag behind on a trip to the vulture observatory, Luis very kindly drove to Valderrobres to drop it off for us - he was so kind and helpful. We would love to return and explore more of the area - there is so much to see. A very special place!

Problem with strange bugs in the HORTA room

Everything very well except for a plague of some bugs in the room HORTA DE SANT JOAN that annoyed us quite the stay. Too bad because the treatment and excellent food. But I think the management of the plague problem was not up to scratch. We endured four nights killing bugs. The first night we thought they had sneaked through the window and then it became clear that they must have nested inside or sneaked somewhere else, and the management knew it. They didn't give us a solution or compensation for the trouble. That room should not have been sold in that condition.

All good except one thing

It was a motorcycle weekend. The place is amazing but they should improve access as, with a slightly low car, Peugeot 308 type, it would be impossible to access. By motorcycle, if it is not trail, it is inadvisable. You're gonna rest, not fight to get there
With regard to the subject of meals, although very good everything, and most homemade, it must be mentioned that dinner you have to serve yourself, that is, go to the kitchen, where they have the dishes served, take them and take them yourself to the table. On staff, at least this weekend, there were three people. I think one person is enough to serve a table of fifteen people, not make customers serve themselves. In that sense an absolute zero
Another issue is checking, which we did in the "outking", it doesn't make sense

Could be so much more…..

It’s a great location and it trades primarily on that, although you really need a sturdy 4x4 to drive 4km up a mountain track to reach it. It’s not a luxury place or a hotel, more self catering B&B. Beautiful pool and views. There were minimal toiletries and towels. No hand soap in bathrooms. Guy that runs it (not owner but in house) very abrupt at times to members of the group who had legitimate questions.
I’d say there’s lots of potential for it to be properly amazing. We ate there every evening and the food produced was very nice standard and delicious.

A paradise of peace in the middle of nature

Highly recommended place for its wonderful surroundings, in the middle of nature, its peace and quiet and the friendliness of the staff. Spacious and comfortable rooms. Exquisite food. It was our third time there, as exciting as the first
