Great spanish country food

This small hotel in the outskirts of The town of Archidona is wonderful stopping place. This review covers the Restaurant only.
The restaurant has a bar (limited selection) and outside covered terrace and a more formal dining room .
Menu is extensive and regionally oriented. We (four) had salads, oxtail stew, cod, regional meat platter. The plating is 'home style', the portions are large and all tasted great.
The service was attentive and the waiter very helpful , given our poor grasp of Spanish he managed to decipher our questions and was very friendly.
The place is quiet, though it can be more boisterous if locals are in the bar. An authentic local place that you will enjoy for its good food and laid back atmosphere.

Brilliant

How do they provide meals like that for such a low price? Fab place that we can't recommend enough, especially lovely in winter so you can sit in front of the roaring fire. Delicious food, friendly and welcoming service and a gorgeous cosy restaurant

Hotel Escua

The room was comfortable and clean. The shower was broken . The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. It was a very basic room but if you are looking for cheap accommodation and friendly staff, excellent food then Escua is the place to stay. Within walking distance of Archidona.

Family run friendly rural hotel

Nice double room with a large balcony.Nice bar and restaurant,good home cooked food,mainly local dishes,lamb etc,always busy with locals etc.
I stayed here for 5 nights whilst waiting to move into my house.
Breakfast was basic but good with freshly made coffee and orange juice.
Good value for money all round.
Although on the bend of a main road going into town,no traffic noise and only 10 min walk uphill to centre.
TV has small screen in room , but you dont come here to watch tv.

Great value hotel

Stayed at the Escua for three nights in October 14. Booked a superior room through booking.com (better price available direct from hotel) which turned out to be a very large double with balcony, sitting area and generous bathroom. The welcome from the owners was friendly and helpful and we felt really looked after during our stay. There was secure storage for our bicycles as the attractive town of Archidona was only a few minutes walk away up the hill. The standard of catering is highly recommended with particularly good evening meals and wines available at very reasonable prices. Our only criticism would be that the wifi whilst good in the bar and restaurant was weak in the bedroom.
Highly recommended.
