Perfect hotel for a weekend
Fantastically located hotel on La Rambla, very friendly staff and fast check in and check out procedures. Honest price given the location and costs of the hotels along the rambla, I do not give 5 stars because the room was small and would need a little more maintenance, but for a weekend it's fine and I did not find the degradation bed in some reviews in various sites

4 nights of totally no a/c working with a 3 month old baby. Sweating at night even with the window open (buggy because no screen) . We spoke to every receptionist (morning lady, mid day, and night ). They told us they would switch our room they didnt. They told us they would not charge for one night. Charged for the whole trip.
They told us numerous times that it was working even though we have videos of the thermostat not even able to turn on as we showed them and they went in the room to get it working. After the second receptionist went to check it on the same day (second day ) it stopped blowing warm air and just blew no air.
They then claimed we would have to wait one more night for the maintenance man to come. The next day, they claimed it was working when it was still not blowing any air and the thermostat still couldn't turn on.
Receptionist were awful, there was no communication to there team members about the issues. And so we kept repeating ourselfs to the same (3) receptionist every day (3) times a day for (4) straight days.
Location is fine if you want to be dead center in city. And there was no atmosphere

Excellent location
The hotel is in an excellent location, right next to La Rambla and well connected to all means of transport. The room was aesthetically very beautiful. The only flaw is the bathroom, without a window and with a persistent smell coming from the shower but bearable by keeping the door closed.

Disappointing service
Our experience with the Hotel May Ramblas was unfortunately very disappointing overall – both in terms of the stay and especially in handling an accidental double booking.
With a last-minute booking through Booking.com, we were not shown a confirmation after the first booking process in the browser. Therefore, we accidentally booked the same stay a second time just a few minutes later. Shortly thereafter, we had two confirmations for the same period, the same hotel, and the same number of people.
We reported the double booking immediately after realizing it and made several attempts to cancel the second booking. We contacted both Booking.com and the hotel directly. According to the correspondence we have, Booking.com attempted to reach the hotel in writing and by phone a total of three times but initially received no final response. Only after a very clear deadline was the final statement made that they did not want to do anything.
The receptionist was already aware of the situation from previous phone calls. She appeared unfriendly and annoyed to us but stated that she wanted to contact Booking.com. Due to the described double booking, we were not assigned a second room from our perspective. We did not occupy or use this second room at any time.
Nevertheless, the hotel is now insisting on payment of both bills, arguing that the second room could not be resold.
From my perspective, this is extremely unfriendly to customers, not solution-oriented, and not accommodating in the case of a immediately reported, clearly identical double booking. We did not conceal the mistake but disclosed it immediately and made several attempts to find a fair solution.
The stay itself did not convince us either. In the lower area of the hotel, we noticed an unpleasant smell that we perceived as fishy. In the upper areas, it smelled unpleasantly like a toilet from our perspective. The room was superficially clean, but overall nothing special. Our window only had a view of a heavily soiled wall of the neighboring building.
The location of the hotel is acceptable. However, we found the hotel to be significantly overpriced for what was offered. Particularly disappointing for us was the handling of our concern: not very friendly, unaccommodating, and from our perspective, without a serious willingness to reach a fair solution.
Due to this experience, we would not book this hotel again.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BOOK HERE
Under no circumstances should you book this hotel. The staff particularly the red haired lady on reception are unhelpful at best. The room was ok but the whole hotel smelled of fish all the time. We were staying on the 5th floor and one evening going for dinner the lift got stuck and we were trapped in there for an hour, reception came to us once and said the engineer had been called and we would be updated. Nothing at all happened until the engineer arrived. My wife was panicking and very upset and the receptionist couldn’t have cared less. She said she couldn’t leave reception but every time we went through she was on her phone or hiding out the back. The location is good but that’s it. Avoid
