Hotel Moderno has a central location, on a side street just 20 metres from Barcelona’s famous Las Ramblas. It offers free Wi-Fi access throughout. All rooms at the Moderno are heated, air conditioned and soundproofed.

MEDIOCRE HOTEL
Stay of 3 nights at this simple and unfortunately poorly managed establishment.
Upon our arrival, we pointed out that there were ants in the room despite it having just been cleaned and prepared, but the person at the reception was alone and showed up after a few hours to clean, and did so with a frustrated demeanor.
On another day, due to issues with the laundry, we were not provided with towels, and upon our request, we were given 1 towel for 3 people.
A positive point is the very convenient location near La Rambla and the Liceu metro station, just a short walk from the La Boqueria market.
I cannot evaluate the dining services as I only utilized the overnight stay.
I believe greater attention to the customer and care for the hotel is necessary.
Overall, it is useful as a base for exploring the city.

Great location but hotel needs a good lick of paint and up grade
Well hotel is quite basic but served the purpose for sleeping and the location is brilliant. Staff were very nice and helpful. Place is very tired but clean in some places . My only bug was the no bins in the bedroom didn’t get cleaned which didn’t really bother me as we only slept there , but I do expect to get towels it the room . First night two towels one was completely ripped , second day was given only one towel and last day no towels or toilet rolls . Did speak with manager and was provided . You get what you pay for so it’s very cheap for the location but had a more hostel feeling to it

Our 7-night stay in Room 209 was genuinely stressful. We were exhausted by the constant noise from neighboring rooms, but far worse was the water actively leaking through the electrical light fixture. It is incredibly unsettling to sleep under a live leak—especially after staff admitted this wasn’t the first time it had happened in this room.
I spent three days trying to speak with a manager, but I was completely ignored until after I checked out. To make matters worse, the Director’s only "solution" for this nightmare was a 15% discount on a future stay. It felt like a total slap in the face. Why would I ever pay to return to a hotel that disregarded my safety?
I have filed a formal complaint with the Agència Catalana del Consum. You deserve a room that is safe and quiet. This was neither. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

Regarding the situation mentioned, after your report we carried out a detailed inspection, including tests in the room above with the support of external technical specialists. These checks confirmed that the issue was minor and localized, and did not pose any safety risk. While we understand that such situations can be perceived differently by each guest, the findings did not indicate a major incident.
We also regret if you felt that your concerns were not addressed as promptly as expected. Your case was reviewed following our internal procedures, and appropriate follow-up actions were taken.
With regard to compensation, our policy does not include refunds in cases of this nature. As a gesture of goodwill, we offered a 15% discount on a future stay, in line with our standard practice.

Great location and friendly staff. Our only concern is their bed and pillows. After a long day of visiting the many wonderful tourist attractions, I’d be great to rest in a comfortable bed and soft pillows.

There was not a shower holder on the wall, so you had to hold the shower while having a shower. The breakfast could have been slightly better with fresh fruits and breads. The coffee is not good at all. The staff were great!
