Wonderful hotel in a great location, friendly staff and good food

Just arrived home and had to share what a wonderful holiday we’ve just had at this hotel. The Gran Sol is in a great location with lots of restaurants, shops etc right outside, lovely little beach right in front of the hotel. Hotel was spotlessly clean throughout, room was well appointed with comfy beds and a nice well equipped bathroom with big walk in shower. Staff were great, very friendly and helpful, and the hotel was quieter atmosphere overall which was exactly what we were looking for.
We had one evening meal which was very good value for money, but the breakfasts were worth a mention as the best either of us have had on any holiday. Huge choice, lots of hot food cooked to order by a lovely chef, delicious fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, bread, meats and cheeses, everything was fresh and well laid out. There were lots of different types of milk and bread to accommodate food allergies/preferences.
We wouldn’t change a thing and would love to go back soon!

April-week at Gran Sol

Really beautifully located hotel with very friendly, smiling and service-minded staff.
A lovely terrace with pool and a rooftop terrace with indoor pool with lovely views over the water. There is a small fitness centre, sauna and jacuzzi.
The hotel is located directly down to the beach - which unfortunately could well handle a cleaning of old tang - it is possible that this happens during the high season.
We had a lovely room with sea views and morning sun. Something that will be appreciated in the high season.
Short distance to the small cozy harbour with many restaurants and the possibility of several departures to other bays / ports with catamaran. And walk distance to Cala Millor with pedestrian street and lots of shops.
We had a wonderful week at this hotel ❤️

A truly relaxed experience

Just back from an amazing 11 night stay at this lovely hotel. This was our second time to stay and we were not disappointed. Situated in a lovely location close to all shops and restaurants Cala bona has to offer.
The standard of cleanliness is second to none and our rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels provided. The staff in all areas were exceptionally helpful and very pleasant to deal with .
We did bed and breakfast and I would have to say its the best breakfast I have ever had when away. Food was always fresh with lots of choice and cooked to order
I would highly recommend this hotel and we are already exploring dates for our next visit

Very pleased we chose this hotel

In so many ways this is an excellent hotel so much so that I had to give it a 5. The food is outstanding, the staff, services, rooms, bar and open areas all wonderful. Cala Bona isn’t the sleepy little fishing port we were wrongly expecting but its vibrancy and proximity to the more colourful Cala Millor made it perfect for us. The promenade runs all the way from one end to the other, some 3/4 kms, and there’s a cheap bus service that runs along just one block back. There must be a hundred restaurants lining the promenade and we always had an enjoyable meal with no pushy pavement staff like you can find in Greece.
There are two let-downs but it’s still a 5 overall!! First, the pool area. 40 beds to cover over a 100 residents. All the beds had towels on them by 9am. We refused to play that game until our last day. There are polite notices in the hotel asking people not to reserve beds but people are people. I’m writing this at 10.30am on my lounger surrounded by loungers reserved but still unused!! Next, if you are given a room on any floor ending in 1-6 you’ll have a side room overlooking the sister hotel Levante with a nice side view of the sea. The balcony is triangular in shape and awkwardly small for two people.
But despite these issues this hotel is fabulous, super value for money and a perfect base to relax and explore this beautiful island. We’d definitely return.
Few other tips. Hire a moped for £70 a day and travel north to visit lovely beaches and towns like Canyamel. The roads are pothole free and drivers behave courteously. Or the bus to travel down to Porto Cristo. You swipe a card getting onto a bus and swipe again on exit with the price calculated by length of journey, dead easy to use and about £3 return each. Get the Ratjada express boat for €29, one hour, nice place to visit and it stops for a swim on the way back. No cash needed over here, card for everything however small. Hope that helps.

Brilliant stay, lovely staff

We stayed first 2 weeks in July and had the most fabulous stay here. We booked twin room with sea view and got exactly that, beautiful balcony great for viewing sunrise and shade in the afternoon(room 403) room was very very clean, serviced everyday, when we reported the shower wasn't draining it was sorted the same day.
Breakfast was best we have ever had with freshly cooked eggs, bacon, omelette, pancakes and lovely fruit/meats and cheese.
Cocktails are really good value, the hotel bar isn't the place for entertainment, but Cala Bona has plenty of stuff going on in the evenings to keep you amused.
We used beach every day, 2 x sun beds and a parasol = £16.60 euros per day(get up early and get your towels on) Loungers round the pool are limited but we dont use pool. Pool snack bar is lovely, we alternated between supermarket-over-the-road baguettes and pool snack bar. Plenty of restaurants and bars for evening meal a 2 min walk away. All in all, this hotel is in a fab location with fab staff!
