Zafiro Hotels, The best place to feel free!!

This was my 2nd time at Zafiro Can Picafort, 3rd at a Zafiro Hotel. And as expected, it never fails to disappoint! I'll start with the pros:
Pools- there are 5 pools at the hotel, the bubble pool, with a big inflatable bubble for kids to enjoy, the wet bar pool, where you can sit in the pool while having a drink, the deeper swimming pool, for taller people, the swim up pools that you can pay extra for and the chill out pool with beds around the edges. All the pools have lifeguards sitting close to them, always ready to save a life if needed. The bubble pool would be my favourite though, I could play on it all day.
Food- there are 4 restaurants at the hotel, the buffet, the a la carte/pool bar, Blackwell's (American diner) and the Italian. The buffet is perfect for kids to go up themselves and pick what food they want to eat that meal, the a la carte is really good if you have just gotten out of the pool and want to go for something to eat, without having to get dressed up for the meal. I haven't eaten at the Italian or the American myself, but with the amount of people eating at it at dinner time I can say it's very good. There are themed nights at the buffet like one night out of the seven I was there, there was sushi, and one there was lots of cheese and crackers. Every day in the buffet there are staples like pizza, chips and sweets for kids if there's nothing else they want to eat.
Entertainment-the Entertainment team are absolutely stunning, they put their all into everything they do and are very attentive with the children and give them hugs or high fives even if they're busy. There are activities for all ages: mini's (4-12 years old) maxi's (13-15 years old) and teenagers (16+) the mini entertainment mostly consists of activities in the mini club and themed days with their mascot Yzzy the pirate koala, like circus, under the sea, superheros and more! There's also the aquamat in the wet bar pool where kids can run across then jump off the end into the pool while dancing with the entertainers. Every day at 13:00pm they show a movie on the big screen outside the buffet for kids to sit and watch, at 14:00pm they do medal games to win medals and diplomas with different games each day and at 10:10am they dance and you can take pictures with Yzzy to get the day started. For the maxi's there is football at 10:45am every morning with the entertainment team, the daily challenge in the wet bar pool at 14:01pm, and a range of pool sports every day like waterpolo, water pong and water volleyball. For teenagers there is yoga at 10:30am every day just outside reception on the grass and there is a range of sports like darts and rifle shooting behind the mini club. The teenagers can also do football every day too, along with parents. Every night at 20:00pm there is a kids mini disco where the entertainment team dance on the stage with Yzzy and then give out medals and diplomas to the kids who participated in the medal games that afternoon. After the mini disco there is the kids kahoot or bingo for charity. At 21:00pm there is a different show each night ranging from acrobatics to singing, during the show there is an activity for children for example Yzzy tattoos or face painting. After the show there is family kahoot where the parents can join in this time. At 22:10pm the last club dance of the night happens. Special shout out to Carlos, Anna, Alberto and Yaco from the entertainment team. Carlos has super energy, Anna puts her all into everything she does with the children, Alberto is pure charisma and Yaco is very funny and kind.
Rooms- they recently re-did all of the rooms to make them more modern as they were getting many comments saying they were 'outdated' and they did an amazing job, they're very modern! The room i was staying in had a private swim up pool, a double bed, a sofa bed and a pull out bed underneath the sofa bed that has legs you can use to rise the bed up to the level that the sofa is at. There was a fridge, a tv, a couple cupboards, a table and a microwave. The terrace had a hammock, 3 chairs and 2 sunbeds. The terrace has bushes separating surrounding terraces from looking into yours so it's very private.
Surrounding area-it's a 10-15 minute walk to the beach from the hotel. The beach is surrounded by restaurants, bars and supermarkets where you can buy pool floaties, sandals, clothes and more. The beach is stunning, the sea is blue and clear and there are sunbeds on the beach that you can relax on.
Cons:
Food-some of the meals in the a la carte and buffet get quite repetitive but did not disappoint quality wise.
Wet bar pool-the bottom of the wet bar pool is a bit dirty with grime in the cracks but we were in the other pools more so it didn't really bother us much.
Bars- during the evening the bar queues can get quite long and it can take a while to order and recieve any drinks you want. But that's expected as drinks are a popular part of an abroad holiday.
Overall: overall this was an amazing holiday as it was whenever we went in 2023, the only thing I would say would be if you go to this hotel I would go all inclusive, even though it is more expensive, it's worth it. You can go up to the freezer and get as many ice lollies and ice creams as you want, drinks too.

Good hotel, but not if you're vegetarian.

The hotel is lovely but the pools have been cold to the point that the youngest refuses to get in them. Our teenager was told she wasnt allowed on the bouncing pillow by a female lifeguard, but we had before and since seen grown men on it. 90% of the time food has been good, but we did order a coleslaw sandwich and instead received one with chicken and in the Blackwells restaurant we ordered the nachos, but it come out with pulled pork on. The waitress checked the menu and although it said it came with the pork in Spanish, the English translation didnt show this. Both times this was sorted out, but it shouldn't have happened. We have found lots of things have nuts in and aren't labelled correctly or at all. Having a vegetarian and someone with us who cant have nuts, this is very concerning.
The hotel maps on site and online are a bit out of date, as things have moved around a bit, for instance the kids club is now near the front of the hotel and the shop has moved to behind the kids pool where the kids club used to be.
Over all staff are always friendly and helpful.
Would be amazing if the pools werent so cold as we wanted a holiday where the kids would be in and out the pool all day. Would also help if had more snack/small lunch items available instead of just sit down meals.

Great family resort

We stayed here for 11 nights at the start of the school holidays. Check in was efficient and we arrived about 1.30pm and our room was ready. We got towels after lunch at the beach bar and managed to find some sunbeds (no parasol). Overall the hotel is of a good standard, it’s big with 5 blocks but not too big to have to get about. The hotel has been renovated. I can’t comment on it before but it was of satisfactory standard. Our shower did leak and the grouting was a bit iffy. If you are expecting a full renovation standard if you’ve been before then you’ll be disappointed. General grounds and areas are well maintained and clean pools with good facilities.
At the start no issue for sun loungers. I like to go and read and sunbathe around 9.00 intil my family are awake and then nip for a quick breakfast. First 3 days no issue and staff were adding notes to the loungers giving 40 minutes grace which isn’t long. No logic to who got them but did remove a few towels. Later in the holiday the notes stopped from what I saw but as hotel got busier so did tie reservation of beds and a lot with parasols gone by 9.30 ish.
My children are 6 and 9 and my 6 year old loved the kids activities and the mini disco, however my 9 year old wasn’t too bothered as activities in the day are quite craft heavy for younger kids. The foam party was good and afternoon pool games were good too. The animation staff are fantastic and friendly with lots of positive energy in everything that they do even in 34 degrees +. My little one loved Anna and another girl whose name I can’t remember so thank you. Same music for aquafit can be a bit repetitive.
Trampolines €5 for 10 minutes every evening and also same for the ride on animals (we only saw them once) which was fun.
We had an issue with what we felt was poor air conditioning and the safe not working and the team were patient and gave us a choice of alternative rooms to move to for better AC. The team also responsive on the app. Rooms are a good size and comfy beds. Housecleaning was ok, sheets changed and towels if left in the shower. Balconies never touched. Not sure floors mopped as my daughter dropped a glass bottle and still had some on the floor.
Not sure penthouses are worth the cost. Smaller common living area and so hot to lie on the roof. also don’t go near the hot tub.
The buffet is typical AI stuff, replenished fresh food regularly but can get a bit repetitive. We only do AI for the kids. Good salads and meats, pasta, breads etc as well as fajitas and some paella. It’s a shame that you only get 3 visits to À la cartes for 11 night stays when those staying for 7 get the same. They are easy to book on the app 3/4 days in advance. I’d say all 3 restaurants are average. La tavola was the worst of the 3 for us . We ordered the beef entracote, it wasn’t cooked or rested and blood on the plate. To be fair we sent it back and they sent back new pieces of meat which were also undercooked and not rested and we couldn’t even cut it so we gave up. The sauce came out well after the first ones and was cold by the time we got the second. Service in all 3 average, we had to keep asking for drinks and orders were usually wrong, or missing something. The upstairs restaurants are roasting hot. The Italian was ok was the tex mex. I’d be disappointed if I’d paid out of the hotel for both meals.
The pool bar in the day has a good menu, food is OK, again there were a few days when we waited almost 45 minutes and then a club sandwich came with just ham and nothing else. Always busy but staff friendly. Food average. Good pizzas and burgers.
Evening entertainment is ok, usual acrobats, singers, mini disco, bingo etc but literally stops 10pm and nothing else which I get. The bar inside is quite stuffy but had the World Cup on, however closes at midnight. We saw the same adult quiz twice.
We won a photo shoot and a free photo in the vi go and I have to say we did it and ended up paying for great photos of the family.
All in all a lovely holiday. Was it worth the £6200 we paid? I’m not so sure.

Great family holiday

This is an excellent family friendly hotel. There is so much to do for the kids ranging from the pirate boat and slides kids pool, to the giant bouncy water pillow, to the bouncy castle, climbing frames, arcade, kids disco, mini golf etc! Our 4 year old had the best time. We went half board and booked directly with the hotel so we got 3 ala cart meals included (this also includes drinks). If you book half board through a travel agency such as jet2, you can only eat dinner in the buffet, unless you want to pay for the ala cart. (We found this out through our family who came away with us but booked through jet2). Food at the buffet was very good and varied. Drinks are also included. Service is excellent- the waiters are very quick to clean plates and serve drinks in the courtyard area after dinner. Very friendly staff too.
The only 2 criticisms of the hotel:
1) people reserve subbed very early and don’t use them. It’s very annoying. Although notes are left on their beds, their stuff is never removed.
2) the kids club is very limited in terms of the building. It’s a very small wooden building with little play equipment. It does have air con, but with the weather being so hot, it would be nice to have a bigger indoor kids club with decent play equipment to keep them entertained indoors during the hottest part of the day. If this was improved, we would definitely be back next year.
The children’s entertainment team were brilliant and there were lots of things to keep them entertained throughout the day including treasure hunts, foam parties, t-shirt making etc, but the facilities and space inside really need improving for kids.
The beach is a 10min straightforward walk and has lots of restaurants and shops.
Rooms were very clean and spacious.
We had a great time and good value for money.

Great family hotel

This is a fantastic family hotel. So much to do for all the children. It’s spotlessly clean and staff are all lovely.
Our room
Was beautiful . We were very impressed.
Food and drink was as expected for 4 star all
Inclusive hotel.
Only took one mark off as they don’t provide clean cups in the room ( you wash your own ) and only re stocked tea bags on one of our days. We were having to take from restaurant. Such a small thing !
