super charming and unique and one of a kind design and experience

What a cute little place in a cute little village. There isn’t much going on in this village, but it works just fine as a hub for your La Rioja excursions. We were deciding between this and the new Palacio de Los Angeles hotel in Haro. I’m glad we chose this. Haro feels like a modern-ish town with some ugliness to it. The town of Elvillar, while super sleepy, was charming with it’s winding roads. There were kids messing around and running around in the streets in the wee hours of the night. The plaza always had a couple of elderly chatting away. The rooms themselves and the overall design of the hotel is a 12 out of town. This place really satisfies your soul. Breakfast was good. The A/C could have been stronger, albeit we were in Spain during a gnarly heat wave. Although it doesn’t have a pool, we went to the ‘municipal’ pool a block away and that was it’s own unique little experience. It had a bar as everything in Spain does. We stayed here with our two kids (9 and 4) and while it is far from being designed for children, it was just fine. Mind you we didn’t stay in the rooms and/or hotel that much. Great value, super clean, didn’t hear our neighbors and service was good. I recommend!

Cool refuge from the hot summer sun.

Located in an old Basque village/town, full of windy streets and open squares. We visited during a heatwave, and were so glad to decamp into the Casa Robla with it's metre thick walls, a real sanctuary from the heat. The rooms were well equipped in a minimalist style which made then feel as if they were hewn from inside the rock! They were really clean, and lacked for no creature comforts. The lady owner (sorry I have forgotten her name) showed us around the cellars which she says were only discovered after she had purchased the place. Would not hesitate to recommend.

6 stars would be appropriate here.....

The grandfatherly house was modern and completely stylishly rebuilt in 4 years. Just entering the house triggers a sense of well-being.
The built-in elevator eliminates the need to drag suitcases to the room. Pure in the latter feel-good atmosphere. The bathroom (2 Rainbath showers opposite!) is in no way inferior. Everything you need.
A walk through the house leads into the past of the winery. Accessible cellar rooms with old equipment incl. the presentation of the current wine collection in a very good light.
You can always help yourself to everything the fridge gives. Drinks, fruit, coffee, etc. Easy to guess that breakfast in the morning can be taken with excellent quality in wonderful Mood.
But the real highlight are the hosts Cristina and Carmen. Both incredibly warm, they have made a wonderful an absolutely outstanding stay. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Motorbike trip June 2025

I found the online system a bit difficult, but after putting in Christina's Tel No and creating WattsApp, it worked well. Christina sent the codes, which worked well and inside your room is a Pass Key. After a bit of lost time I managed to find the right roads in the mountains. Great roads again along Estrella etc. Long day but good riding.. The Casa is very beautiful and the bar near the church opened, eventually. Parked right outside.
Lovely place, friendly staff, but a bit soulless for me. Everyone keeps to themselves and no real interaction. Each to there own I guess.
Nowt to do with the Casa, but I got a puncture too!!
