Holidays in L'Escala

We had a great stay at the Escala mill. The setting is beautiful and ammmmmllllnnnnnnnvons vons had a very Good Welcoming.

Lovely property. Room, shower, furniture was nice,. Air conditioner was the best I had ever encountered. Oddly the only amenity in the bathroom was shampoo - no body wash or blow dryer. The comforter was from Jysk and didn't have a cover. The night lighting was fantastic. Our room was described as a suite, but really was just a larger room.
Since it's more of a restaurant with a small hotel, we expected the food yo be fantastic - it was only okay. The breakfast was extremely disappointing - bad coffee, rancid granola and lots of flys crawling over the food - and it was expensive.

Surprise: a room on the terrace of the restaurant

Can you imagine booking a junior suite in a superior 4* hotel and being given a space by the restaurant tables?
We arrive at the Hotel del Molí de l'Escala and find that our room is not in the historic mill building, but in an adjacent space, in the middle of the restaurant terrace with noise of plates, drinks, celebrations and bedside diners at eight in the morning, all noon and dinner until midnight. Zero insonorption, zero tranquility.
The room also had only a glass wall between bed and bathroom and an old wooden screen to separate toilet and shower.
There was no coverage, the wifi was not working and there was only a small window to the rear.
All this for over 200€ a night.
The location of the mill is next to the road, in an industrial and commercial area and more than 10 minutes away from the beach and 30 minutes away from the village of what is said on booking websites and the hotel.
FAR below the quality and experience one expects in a 4-star and in a room that should be storage or warehouse, never part of a stay.

Incredible stay. The rooms here are amazing. They have so much character yet are surprisingly modern with key card, great lighting and charging points.
The bed and bedding is super comfortable and the old walls have good soundproofing.
The room I had was so spacious and was cleaned daily. Service was perfect and the restaurant is incredible.
Thank you to the kind staff who made our stay wonderful.
