How lucky we were to find this place
As a small Family Group in need of a simple and relaxing holiday, we couldn't have found a better Place for Our wacation week. The village Fataga had just the right size and atmosphere, and had the right distance to the coastal tourism.turmoil.Our hostess Petra was fabolous - an attraction in herself. Her extra's,as the well tasting welcoming meal, the surprize-breakfast and all her readiness to show us around, told us that we had met an extraordinary warmhearted person.

Misrepresentation
Make sure you get what you booked. We thought we had booked and paid for a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom house. On arrival, we were given 2 studio apartments, separated by a long corridor, and there were other people in the main house. There was no washing machine as stated on the information and in one of the studios there was no hot water in the kitchen sink or in the basin in the bathroom. The Wifi didn't work: We had to use the café opposite.
We feel that we were totally misled and the information on the website is a misrepresentation of what we actually experienced.
This was a big disappointment as the location is fine but the amenities were not as we had been led to believe.

OK but probably wouldn't return
Fabulous location. You get a lot for your money (garden, pool, roof terrace, kitchen, living room). Although the bedroom and bathroom were clean, the communal areas were not that well looked after. Ashtrays on terrace and in garden had cigarette butts and dead flies. The whole place felt rather dated and the rooms were rather dark. It was a bit difficult to work out exactly what the 'deal' was at this property. We were expecting a guesthouse with, for example, servicing of the bedroom and bathroom. However, these were not serviced during our 5 night stay. So more like a holiday rental than a guesthouse. Not a big problem but not typical of a guesthouse/hotel.

nice and quiet
Very nice canarian house with wonderfull garden.
Small windows do make it a little dark. There is no heating in the common rooms. Only heating in the bedrooms on request. Since we stayed in Februari it was rather cold at night.
The owner is very nice and attentive.

Superb location, accessible but tranquil and a perfect place to stay
I have stayed in many places around the world but none has matched the magic of Casa Elisa. Situated in a lovely tranquil mountain village, up a short winding road from the coast, this is the perfect place to stay on Gran Canaria. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and my bed was really comfortable. There is a very well-equipped kitchen, if you want to self-cater (and excellent supermarkets down in Maspalomas). There's a bakery in the village which has wonderful fresh bread daily and delicious almond biscuits, also freshly baked. Also around the corner the Bar Restaurant Labrador offers delicious local dishes, reasonably priced and with friendly service.
What really sets Casa Elisa apart is Petra, the owner, and her devotion to ensuring her guests have a memorable stay. She greeted me with a lovely welcoming meal and a bottle of wine. And then she did everything possible to make me feel at home and at ease. (Petra even took me on a trip to one of Gran Canaria's special cave dwellings sites - amazing!). She makes magnificent preserves (her apricot jam made my morning yoghurt and muesli taste gorgeous!) and as a special treat she made us a special breakfast of carnival tortillas - a Canarian delicacy for carnival season.
You will see from my other reviews I am not always so glowing in my praise - but at Casa Elisa I had a stay which was perfect and unforgettable (for all the right reasons!).
Petra can arrange airport pickups; and there's an excellent bus service from Casa Elisa down to the coast - although car hire is reasonable in GC.
