On top of the Santa Catalina hill, this 18th-century castle has been beautifully renovated keeping its huge stone walls and many historical features to make for an authentic stay in Jaén.

At the top!!!
Situated at the top of the Santa Catalina hill and bordering the castle of the same name, this wonderful and iconic building is found. Our stay was for a few days during Holy Week. The entire building is majestic; its ambiance and decoration transport you back in time.
The view from the building is impressive, overlooking the entire capital surrounded by the sea of olive trees that encircles it.
The rooms are well-equipped, soundproofed, and isolated.
The attention from the staff, especially in the cafeteria, is splendid.
Perhaps there will be a noticeable lack of staff attending during breakfast. This is a bit basic and repetitive, but of good quality.
It has free parking, although with the visitors that come, especially on weekends to the castle, the area becomes crowded.
This is something to consider if visiting Jaén.

Stunning location. Steeped in history. Outstanding staff who always went the extra mile. Friendly and helpful. Room 210 spacious and quiet. Spectacular views. Spotlessly clean. Great value for money. Pool fantastic. Free parking.

Fantastic views from this parador … needs a bit of TLC in the outside by pool area.
Resturant needs to be improved.. dishes not complete from menu. Many produce didn’t arrive on dish. IE rosemary potatoes replaced by couscous!!!! When asked where potatoes were. Just got a shrug and said that they would cook some, half way through course.
They did apologise.

Impressive Parador in spectacular setting
We stayed here for one night on our way back north after staying in the south. It is a truly spectacular setting and husband's satnav found it a challenge to send us up the hill the right way. However once we were there we had free parking (rare these days!) and once we were settled in our room (smaller than others we had stayed in on our trip however well planned and equipped) with a fabulous view over the hills behind. A small terrace for cold drinks and a bar snack lunch. We were a bit tired after our long drive so didn't do much after our late lunch (husband found football on TV), no tea or coffee in room but probably no space for it.
We had booked half board so were dining in the restaurant. The public rooms are truly impressive, the history of the place goes back to before the 12th century. Unfortunately a big meat heavy Parador dinner defeated me, we should have stuck to bar food.
Usual good Parador breakfast buffet before another long drive. Definitely worth a visit.
